    Sony IER-M9 impressions thread

M9 is very hard to drive for an IEM. Do not ever remove the foam. (it would easily last 7/8 years at least) Get the azla sednaearfit max if you are concerned regarding earwax (sounds excellent with the M9)

    EarMen Angel

    1. It should stop blinking blue once fully charged. However, you can just charge it for 2-5-3 hrs approx. And run it as usual. no need for trickle charge to finish 2. I personally experienced no change. It's extremely easy to update the firmware, though. You can borrow a friend's windows laptop...

Zero hiss for me with the WM1ZM2. Aura is very sensitive and easy to drive. I'd suggest trying an uber-quiet source like the zm2 with it.

Navigator is the best dongle by a country mile. I actually preferred it to both iFi Gryphon and Shanling H5. RU7 and M15 do not even come close. I have not tried the DC Elite yet, though.

Ironically good old Sony WF ones are the best IMO (XM4 and XM5. XM4 is mired with battery failure issues though). I have tried Noble TWS and they are well, "%$)*!" to put it politely (sounds like cheap KZ IEMs lol. I guess they are riding on the whole expensive=it must be good mindset). Hifiman...

DITA Audio Project M Discussion Thread

No one else can do timbre as well as DITA (except Aroma, Sony and Flipears maybe). Singapore's finest!

Volur is a super "safe" yet fun IEM worth buying blind. Very pleasant sounding and an improvement from the U12T in my book. Blind buying "Avant-garde" stuff without auditioning first should be avoided IMO unless you are a collector of some sort or want the best performance from a certain genre.

Shanling H5 - Portable DAC/AMP/Player, AKM AK4493S DACs and sweet warm tuning

I actually play a lot of single player games and time passes by like nothing. I start with a full charge, play until my eyes hurt and boom, the charge is almost depleted (not a healthy addiction I guess). Battery life on BT is amazing though and honestly, probably the second or third-best BT...

Shanling H5 - Portable DAC/AMP/Player, AKM AK4493S DACs and sweet warm tuning

Hi, got the Shanling H5 recently. Amazing sound and already preferring it to the Mojo 2 and iFi Gryphon with my Arya Organic. I have a query though. Is it safe to plug in the USB power simultaneously while the device is operational? Will it harm the battery in the long run?

Review by 'BonGoBiLai' on item 'LETSHUOER Cadenza 12'

Letshuoer is a Chinese IEM manufacturer and they are among the most consistent performers in the budget/mid-fi chi-fi scene. I have tried almost every significant IEM Letshuoer has come up with so far. Starting from the divisive and not particularly well received ‘’Tape’’ to modern cult classics...

I breathed a massive sigh of relief after I got rid of my RU7. Good sound (minus the wooly bass) but the jankiest dongle I had the misfortune of owning; for a short while thankfully.

Review by 'BonGoBiLai' on item 'ISN G4 IEM cables'

Background ISN is a familiar name among cable aficionados who spend moderate amounts on cable but do not go full-crazy with their wallets. ISN also makes a few IEMs, some of which were huge hits, H40 for example. This review will focus on the ISN G4, a ‘midrange’ cable from ISN that sits...

Tie between Dita Perpetua and Jewel. Perpetua has better timbre and the best bass I have heard among DD IEMs. Not overdone, just the perfect amount of decay. Jewel has that perfect blend of technical prowess and tonality. Both are immediately easy to listen to which I seek in an IEM/Headphone...

[Aroma Audio] Our new "AIR" Bluetooth DAC Amplifier

Most likely Orbtronic (the protection circuit has a broader range, also every component is made in Japan. Nitecore should be good as well). these Panasonic cells are dirt cheap but super reliable. The battery fits very snugly. Carefully use a guitar pick (preferable made of soft plastic and...

[Aroma Audio] Our new "AIR" Bluetooth DAC Amplifier

I cannot go beyond 85 with the Arya Organic and 87 with the HD 650/Edition XS. There is a massive boost in power/volume after 90. I won't recommend turning up the volume to that level unless you have something stubbornly difficult to drive. Hard-to-drive IEMs like IER M9 and Helios sit...

[Aroma Audio] Our new "AIR" Bluetooth DAC Amplifier

It looks like Aroma uses Panasonic 18600 cells (repackaged with protection circuit). I will order some Nitecore and Orbtronic batteries soon (orbtronic is supposedly the best among repackaged Panasonic cells. I wish more manufacturers gave us the option of standard, swappable non soldered...

[Aroma Audio] Our new "AIR" Bluetooth DAC Amplifier

Unfortunately no. It is BT only. BTR7 is not even remotely close. Air completely demolished both my Questyle M15 and Cayin RU7 (both great devices on their own but AIR is markedly better on all fronts, especially bass definition, separation, and soundstage (cavernous soundstage). I actually...

Review by 'BonGoBiLai' on item 'Flipears Artha'

I have reviewed the Flipears Aether recently and proclaimed my unwavering love and adulation towards that IEM. To me, it is the best overall IEM under 1500 USD. When you set up a bar so high with a 700 USD ‘’budget’’ IEM, where do you go from that, especially with a hefty price tag of 1700 USD...
