DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
Depends on where you mess up the wiring. You could get both signals to one side, shorted ground to signal which usually just means no sound, you could get both channels in both sides. Chances are it won't hurt anything, output impedance of most devices is high enough that even a dead short...- 65535

Retina MacBook Pro vs. Mac Pro?
A Mac Mini with a 1TB HDD and a 240-256GB SSD is an amazing value.- 65535

I'd consider giving a heads up to Schiit via e-mail. They'd probably like to know about it and make sure things are kept in check.- 65535

Retina MacBook Pro vs. Mac Pro?
You're not going to want to carry around a $3000 desktop computer. Honestly for your use you'd be better spent buying a $1500 laptop more often. If you're dead set on it get a MBP blow your budget on it. An iMac is still your best value, but if you can't live without portability then a...- 65535

Retina MacBook Pro vs. Mac Pro?
The Mac Pro doesn't make sense for you. An iMac and a rMBP would be a better option. Just an iMac almost maxxd out is your best choice.- 65535

Retina MacBook Pro vs. Mac Pro?
Any computer isn't value for money unless you can't do your work without one. A Mac computer is much a Windows based system as any other computer. The only way a non-Mac system is cheaper than a Mac machine is if you make it yourself and/or go with much lower price components.- 65535

Retina MacBook Pro vs. Mac Pro?
If you've got a $3,200 maximum budget the Mac Pro isn't the right option. If you have a monitor already you could fit that into your budget but you didn't mention that you do any work that requires a machine like that. A Mac Mini or iMac make more sense for a desktop computer for most school...- 65535

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
1) That's usually nominal ID so it'll fit over a diameter of that size. Some sleeving is expandable and fits a much larger size others don't. 2) Yes 18AWG is far too large for headphone cable, solid wire will make that a headphone stand and not a cable. You'll either damage the connector on...- 65535

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
I'm not sure what you mean, but if single core means solid core that's a bad idea. Use stranded wire. If you mean individual conductors I would use the number of conductors equal to the number of pins on the connectors you intend to use. For single ended that's 3 wires 4 if you want to run dual...- 65535

Realistically small quantities of small gauge high strand wire is going to be pricey, no way around it unless you buy in bulk.- 65535

4 pin xlr for unbalanced operation? Questions for planned DT770 mod
I used a 4 pin connector on my T70's and just soldered the common together for single ended cables. I can also use it balanced if I happen to have them somewhere with a balanced amp.- 65535

It does look very nice. I usually stick with tinned copper or plated copper for the silver look but I'm pretty pedestrian with my cables for the most part.- 65535

The 560's are great they're comfy and they look good. However they have a little bit too much treble for my liking. That's my only issue with them.- 65535

If you're doing your own rips and you're not doing any sample rate conversions then by all means stick with it. Storage is cheap and there shouldn't be any issue with it.- 65535

That begs the question do you even have 24/192 files. If you're resampling everything from 44.1 to 192 you're just wasting processor time and adding the potential for improperly resampled data.- 65535

Indeed, it is the Mac Pro Trashcan Edition. Best looking trashcan I've ever seen though. Honestly I thin kit's a beautiful design, compact (you really have to see it in person to get a proper perspective), and solid. The computer is aluminum with an aluminum outer case, the monitors...- 65535

I just got my first desktop in 6 years. I went a little crazy. It's hard to gauge monitor size when you're used to a 15" screen. Don't mind the Bose, nothing bigger would even fit. They ain't half bad either.- 65535

I believe it is just reclocking the USB signal, I'm fairly certain it doesn't incorporate any buffer, which admittedly would be good for a lot of systems with issues like that.- 65535

The only thing the Wyrd could even possibly due is remove noise on the 5V line. This could help reduce noise of a poorly filtered USB Interface. Schiit implements USB well and the only thing Wyrd does for their own devices is eliminate USB power issues due to power management from the computer...- 65535
