[FiiO UTWS5] True Wireless Bluetooth Earhooks as Usual,Coupled with Independent AK4332 DAC

With the one ui 6 and android 14 update I think Samsung finally succeded in messing up completely the ldac transmission at 990kbps. It's disgusting how this company is trying to create its ecosystem in an open source space. Can anyone confirm?

[FiiO UTWS5] True Wireless Bluetooth Earhooks as Usual,Coupled with Independent AK4332 DAC

These days I'm testing the samsung s23 in ldac mode and I think it is stuck on adaptive bitrate, I mean not only with utws5 but also with my other ldac equipment (i tested sony xm4 and shure aonic 50). Changing the bitrate under developer settings doesn't result in a music cutout, and that...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Best way is going to squig.link, use the equalizer, export graphic EQ (for wavelet) and load it in wavelet.

Did anybody with a Samsung S22 (EU version, exynos soc) extensively try if utws5 work properly on ldac @990k ?

I've compared their graphs to others in the past, and they don't seem to be accurate, probably they are not using a good coupler. Yesterday soundguys posted a review right after the announcement, the FR there looks a bit different.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I made an hearing test years ago, and I had already lost 2db over 8k, the doctor said it was normal for someone my age. But I start to think I am above average because I have always the same problem with stuff that emits high treble, or I can't bear it because my ears and brain can't "process"...

I've been testing the Technics AZ80 for five days, and I think they're going back. Everything is premium but the sound in my opinion. I tried to eq them and it's not the "barrel" effect that annoys me, it could be the acoustic chamber. The problem is in the treble region, the sound is metallic...

For modern music you need a neutral one, not a V shape. My ears couldn't survive with a v-shape over a v-shaped sound. Try some qcy.

Yes, GSM was right. I'm a bit disappointed: still asymmetrical bezels (Asus had posted misleading pictures) and only 30w charging. They added wireless charging though. Qualcomm Aqstic DAC should be the same as on the 9. I had money in my hands, now I'm not sure.

A bit out of topic, but as you were talking about phones here is the link for the launch event of the Asus Zenfone 10. It should be Snapdragon sound with aptx lossless, headphone jack with a good dac, small form factor, 5000mah 4300mah battery.

[FiiO UTWS5] True Wireless Bluetooth Earhooks as Usual,Coupled with Independent AK4332 DAC

Today I took the adapters out of the case and they were 0% and 4%. The case was full charged, the contacts were clean (I clean them every time I put them in the case), the adapters were previously powered off, the leds on the case were on after insertion. No doubt this is the buggiest hardware...

[FiiO UTWS5] True Wireless Bluetooth Earhooks as Usual,Coupled with Independent AK4332 DAC

Tested on redmi note 10 pro, xiaomi pad 5 and fiio bta30. Continuous stuttering on 990/909 since the beginning, I had to choose balanced. I've been using the utws5 this morning and they were still in my ears when I upgraded the firmware, maybe the problem is the device heating.

It happens to me too. It's bt stability related, but I can't find the origin. Some days everything is fine, others it's a pain. I have to go to developers settings and change sampling rate and bitrate, as they get screwed up, over and over again. I have a xiaomi phone.

I use the B2 with utws5. It's a nice combo and a nice tonality but in my opinion they sound too hot around 3k, maybe the diffuse field target is not optimal for iems, but they are easy to eq. More tws should sound like them.

True. The Harman is just a gross approximation. Even the pinna gain can differ depending on ear shape and canal. Beyond that everyone has tastes that often lead far from a natural sound. Even moods, ear fatigue and time of day can change one's preferences. Also the brain compensates fast. And...

[FiiO UTWS5] True Wireless Bluetooth Earhooks as Usual,Coupled with Independent AK4332 DAC

Yesterday I decided to update to version 1.5. Everything has been working fine. No problem with eq storing, multipoint took me some time but at the end it was working as well. Anyway I noticed, like other users, there was a kind of digital glare so I went back to 1.4 (couldn't find the 1.42).

Yeah, those adapters are way overpriced on amazon. You can try to find them on aliexpress.

Most people go for the OEaudio adapter, I have these https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B092D6MQV4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AASEEGAQR7G3R&psc=1 I have been using them for one year and they didn't break. They get stuck tightly on utws mmcx connectors, I don't know if it is a pro or a con...

You could consider buying a MMCX to 2Pin adapter and the Truthear Hexa, they are getting many good reviews.

Many people here are more sensible to technical qualities (resolution, layering, staging ecc...) than tuning and some are prone to operate with eq, that's the reason why the new product is often more compelling. The tws technology is evolving faster than the iems one. Anyway I agree with you, I...

You could try the XM4 with azla crystal. Not many tws have that kind of neutral tuning with a sub bass emphasis. I like it too. The only cons are XM4 lower treble on high volume. Also their batteries can get damaged over time. I would wait the summer for the XM5, or maybe the new Technics.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

The reason why I kept these tws is their eq. Swapping stock tips they sound good at 50-60% volume, if someone needs more probably he is suffering from hear loss or he is going to. It's not an Harman target, I have a different house as I like a british (monitor like) sound, but you can easy eq...

Newly added to aptx lossless family: https://item.jd.com/10067450598059.html#product-detail and lhdc 5.0 https://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_buds_pro_2_launch_in_china-news-57067.php I'm not interested too much in any of these, but it's good to find new products supporting the new "lossless" codecs.
