SONY NW-ZX500
Hi, sorry for my late reply. A detailed specification for all firmware updates is available on the Sony website. With the firmware updates the EU volume limitation has not gone completely but sony increased volume level materially. With firmware 1.xx I needed to listening between a volume of 90...- minzink

The ZX507 is a beast 😀 ... I have an EU version with volume limit but with the latest firmware it is not an issue anymore with right headphones. You can also ruine your ears with the EU version. Haha! I really like the bassy sound...and streaming capabilities... only weak point is battery...- minzink

The Sony 40th Anniversary Walkman Thread
I use the NW-ZX507 with MDR1AM2 headphones... due to the current firmware and after burning in the balanced port, the EU volume cap is no longer an issue ... at least for me. Most of the time I hear at a volume of 65 to 75 (depending on the level of the audio) from 120.... The NW-ZX507 is a...- minzink

SONY NW-ZX500
Yeah, you may be right... it's better not to come to final solution in hifi... haha. I am sure, ZX507 and the IER M9 combination is great. Personally I do not like IEMs. I was looking for a MDRZ7MK2 but these are not available in Germany for a reasonable price at the moment. And due to my bad...- minzink

SONY NW-ZX500
Hi Ursego, be patient... out of the box also for me the sound was amazingly flat and dull... Both jacks need to burn in. My player now has approx 250 h on the 4.4 jack and the sound is incredible 😀. Using the 4.4 jack constantly will be a strong improvement in sound quality. I couldn't believe...- minzink

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
Hi Guys, so after listening with Midnight v2 for a few month, now I returned to the DMP-WM1 FE on my WM1A. Region is set to U, headphones are Sony MDR1AM2 . I think, this is the firmware version I love most... Bass with U region is so incredible deep... just great . Once again thanks a lot...- minzink

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
I always felt, that a silicon case gives my WM1A a "cheap touch feeling"... you may know what I mean... So I decided to get the original Sony leather case... not cheap but I really love it and it makes the player complete. Lastly, it perfectly protects the player. Same I did for my ZX507...:)- minzink

SONY NW-ZX500
Hi, I think it really depends on your IEMs or headphones. I use the Sony MDR1AM2 with a very low impedance. I have the EU model and normally I listen to a volume between 68 and 75. only in very exceptional cases louder.... so for headphones with low impedance I would say the EU system is fine- minzink

SONY NW-ZX500
I think it really depends on the headphones you use. I have the limited EU version, but with the Sony MDR1AM2 I mostly listening between 65 and 75 depending on the files volume without any problems... 85 and higher ... with the MDR1AM2 this would be much too loud for me . I am still amazed and...- minzink

Reply to review by 'minzink' on item 'Sony Walkman WM1A'
Hi Redcarmoose! Thanks a lot for the very well done review! I really enjoyed reading. The only thing I won't agree is the cons you mentioned. Also out from the box the WM1A has a very good, Sony typical sound. I would not call it lackluster. And with MrWalkman's firmware update you can raise the...- minzink

SONY NW-ZX500
Hi there, I am quite impressed by the ZX507 and using Amazon Music HD. Sound quality is really good in my opinion. But sometimes loading time in Amazon Music lasts very long. After chosing an album it last up to two minutes until I can see and select the tracks and I can play them... Wifi...- minzink

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
That's right. But UK had to transpose the EU regulations into local law. And if local law has not been revised yet it is still compliant with EU regulations. I doubt this has been completely revised in the meantime considering the whole scope of regulations . Therefore some EU regulations may...- minzink

Upgrade My Pioneer XDP-30 DAP
ah... it depends... I got a nearly mint used 507 (not at all any signs of use) for 235 Euros... Thats 35 Euros more as I spent for the Pio XDP 30 two years ago... and this was even a special offer (recommended price was approx. 300 to 350 Euro in Germany). You need some patience... Upgrade My Pioneer XDP-30 DAP
Hi, I also had the Pioneer XDP 30. It is a very good and compact DAP. I purchased a used Sony Nw-zx507 at eBay for a very good price. The 507 has only one MircoSD slot, but for my purpose this is sufficient. Currently I use the 507 mainly for streaming (Amazon Music HD) which works quite well...- minzink
