Excellent, glad it worked for you. Good to know that alternate hair products also work

Step 7a. (Optional, for those with no willpower). Visit your local hospital and ask if they can put you into a medically induced coma for 24 hours :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lol, glad I could give some feelings of nostalgia at the same time, we used to use washing up liquid

This has happened with every aftermarket tip I have tried, including the Symbio F. I got bored of it so engineered my own solution: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sony-ier-z1r.886120/post-15914809 It's been over 6 weeks now and I have not had a single 'pull off' incident since.

lol, as you wish  It's not like you have to spray hairspray all over them and get it everywhere, it's a light coating carefully applied which will easily wipe off when not required.

Try the hairspray trick I outlined in https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sony-ier-z1r.886120/post-15914809 My Xelestecs would be left in my ears EVERY time I used them before I did this. Now I've been using them for 2 weeks without a single detachment.

Go and retrieve them from the trash, I have a solution! The Xelastics have got left behind and stuck in my ears from the very first time I used them and every other time without fail. Given that I had to import them from America and they cost a fortune I didn't want to give up on...

    SONY IER-Z1R

I'm not usually a fan of silicone type ear tips due to the noise leakage and have been using Comply foam tips for a while. I thought I'd give the Xelastecs a try to see what all the hype was about and have found that I really do like them. I have had no reduction in bass and a slight increase in...

    SONY IER-Z1R

It all comes down to point of reference. I know people who rave about how good AirPods are for music (they're not) and I used to rave about my Pioneer stacking system in years gone by because I didn't know any better. Wireless headphones are great for convenience but they won't be a patch on the...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Very nice! It looks like you are using Roon there? Do you have the 2Go setup as a Roon endpoint connected via Wifi? Out of interest, how were you connecting the Hugo2 before the addition of the 2Go? I think we have discussed before that the IER/Hugo2 is a winning combination, do you think that...

    SONY IER-Z1R

An excellent choice if I may say so :-) I know what you mean, it's when you go back to what you were previously listening to that you notice something missing. I think the IER-Z1R/Hugo2 combo is hard to beat. After being romanced by reviews of the Hugo TT2 and M-Scaler with statements like 'jaw...

Yep the combination is excellent. Works quite well with the Mojo too but to me sounded a little flat somehow.

    SONY IER-Z1R

I agree with your Z1R comments they are outstanding, but you asked about with a bright source and that was my experience, it's all about synergy and the 846 / Hugo 2 combo just didn't work for me at all. Other people may have a different experience but for me it was awful and made me want to...

    SONY IER-Z1R

the 846 were great with other amps such as the Mojo I used to use them with, but I never found the different filters to make much of a difference, they just didn't seem to be a good match for the H2, and once I'd heard the Z1R there was no going back.

    SONY IER-Z1R

I run mine through a Chord Hugo 2 which is generally considered a bright DAC/Amp and with my old Shure SE846s the sound was too bright for me and I was going to return the H2 demo unit I had. I then got the Z1Rs and tried them with the H2 and the result was tamed harshness and a fantastic...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Unfortunately I'm already using the 200 size which is the smallest of the three. It seems to me that the core stretches over time and will then pull off when removing the IEMs from your ear. I'll be trying a different brand of tips once the Complys are done but for now the thin layer of tape...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Yes I have had the same problem with Comply tips, weirdly it was only my left ear at first, and then the right did it too. Once they have pulled off once that is it they will no longer grip onto the IEM and will pull off every time so are rendered useless and the foam usually gets damaged on...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Well, this advice may be good for some other IEMs and the cable removal technique will work with most MMCX earphones but not IER-Z1R. The MMCX socket is recessed inside the metal housing by a few millimetres so any aftermarket cables end will sit inside the housing so no insertion of finger...

    SONY IER-Z1R

I'm not familiar with the IER-M7 but it does seem an odd problem, I had assumed it was down the the weight of the IEMs. Turning the tips round sounds like a radical idea but I'll give it a go next time I swap them. I did some testing today and inserted them with no cables attached to see if...

    SONY IER-Z1R

Hey guys, I’ve just upgraded my Shure SE846 to the IER-Z1R and am amazed at how good they sound. I was looking for a pair of over ear headphones and somehow ended up with these instead, lol. I’m running them with a Chord Hugo 2 as my semi-portable music solution and they seem to pair together...
