What in your opinion are the best headphows to compliment the DX240? I was interested in the iBasso SR3 but I see that they have a quality (paint peeling) problem so I don't think I want SR3 or SR2.

I got two sets of mid-level headphones, $200.00 to $300.00. And the ear pads and the headbands of both are peeling so badly that they leave pieces of the fake leather covering on my ears and in my hair. I know the earpads can be replaced. but not the headbands. Therefore... are there headphones...

My DX120 shows firmware 2.4.56 but why don't I see that in the firmware downloads. I see 2.3.53 which came before and 2.4.59 which supposedly came after. Anyway....is it worth upgrading from my current 2.4.56 to the latest 2.5.68?

I got the DX-120 and I got the excellent Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b that people are raving about. The DX-120 has a balanced output and my MSR7b has an extra balanced cable (with a 4.4mm male jack so I'd need a $40USD adaptor). Anyway i just wonder how much difference using this extra balanced...

Damn. That is wierd. In Japan they sell both black and silver. I almost bought the black one but thought that that black audio equipment went out in the 80s, so I bought the silver one and am glad I did. With it's fake woden sides it is a beautiful piece of equipment.

I know the Marantz HD-DAC1 by itself is for driving headphones only but is it possible to use speakers with the Marantz HD-DAC1? I mean directly without any other amp/preamp. Would it have to be powered speakers? If so, how would the speakers be connected?

I asked on Facebook and Paul (I guess he is the same iBasso engineer here) answered that anything above 2 amps is good. But just make sure to get one that is branded "Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0" or 2.0. The XD120 supports 2.0 but 3.0 is backward compatible with 2.0

Just wondering...the various Play Mode and Digital Filter settings that affect sound...do changing them affect what you here on the fly, or do you have to stop-start the music or reset the DX 120 for your changes to take effect? For all of the DX 120 fans who are not happy with the case (protector?) that comes with the unit, there is an alternative. not cheap but it is hand-crafted for the dx 120 and i can tell you it is very high quality. fits like a glove...no...actually better than a glove. it is stiff like it was...
