"Millett Hybrid" redux: NuHybrid headphone amp, using the Korg Nutube

Evening all, I have been busy over the last few months designing power supplies for headphone amp projects and this one may be of interest to some of you. It's called the Artemis PSU and it's a single rail power supply which can be configured for different output voltages by swapping out the...

My DIY Bi-Polar CRCRC Regulated Power Supply

I have some boards left if anyone is interested for preamp or headphone amp projects. Looking to do a trade if you live in the US as there's some items I'm after for a project. :)

My DIY Bi-Polar CRCRC Regulated Power Supply

Hi I designed it to be used with my BA2018 Linestage project that I am building as a headphone amp which is designed by Wayne Colburn who created the Whammy headphone amp. The power supply is flexible so can be used for a multitude of preamp or headphone amp builds.

My DIY Bi-Polar CRCRC Regulated Power Supply

Hey guys just wanted to share with you a power supply I made for the BA2018 Linestage project I'm working on. It uses more modern LM2941T / LM2991T LDO voltage regulators and features an enable option to switch the regulators on and off while leaving the rest of the board powered. The board...

PASS DIY Headphone Amp - WHAMMY

Got some dual rail boards if anyone is after any? This is pretty much the PSU section of the whammy but with a couple of design changes.

PASS DIY Headphone Amp - WHAMMY

Here is the single rail PSU I built. Working nicely I might add. I need 2 of these boards for testing so I have 8 available. :)

PASS DIY Headphone Amp - WHAMMY

Here are my other designs. First up we have the traditional dual rail positive and negative power supply which can be useful for many projects: I have modified the design from the one on the whammy where by the LEDs on the output are used to provide the regulators with an idle load and there...

PASS DIY Headphone Amp - WHAMMY

Hey all I made a few different designs based on Wayne's power supply for the whammy. The one shown is a single rail positive CRCRC filtered linear supply. This board is already in the fabrication house and I'll be fully testing when they arrive. I have also made a board based on the pilot...

"Millett Hybrid" redux: NuHybrid headphone amp, using the Korg Nutube

Hi you need to check the ground of the Alps pot. If you don't have one, attach a ground wire to the body of the pot to eliminate noise. Also to eliminate noise at either end of the pot on absolute minimum and absolute maximum, you need to attach 100 ohm resistors to the middle pins of the pot...

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

I have the LED voltage reference installed. I used Green ones at 1.9v which gave me a rail voltage of +/- 16.95v when I was building it.

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

I will check out those OP Amps for the NuHybrid, thank you. As for the V6, I checked whether they would get hot or not as I noticed the Bursons got quite toasty in the Whammy but in the NuHybrid they get a little warm but that's it. I was really surprised.

    CRCRC Linear Regulated 24v PSU

Here is the latest version. I made the board wider but made it shorter as the previous design was too long and narrow and I actually couldn't find any enclosure it would have fit into. I prefer this new layout anyway and I also added an led indicator for each rail.

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

Burson OP Amp Thoughts and Impressions: Okay guys, as some of you may know, I recently spent a considerable amount of time and money testing various dual OP Amps in the Whammy HPA. This lead to Charles at Burson contacting me about my projects which has led us here. So before I begin, I would...

Best Class A Amp Ever? Mark Johnson's T2 Class A Amplifier

I was on about Cap - Resistor. Wayne demonstrated on the scope with the first set of caps the noise was reduced but still present, then through the second set the noise was considerably less then through the third set it was more or less a straight line.

Best Class A Amp Ever? Mark Johnson's T2 Class A Amplifier

I'm curious to find out if the CRCRC configuration like used on the Whammys power supply would do a better job at filtering. I have seen the measurements and after the 3rd set of caps the ripple is practically nothing. Dead silent.

Best Class A Amp Ever? Mark Johnson's T2 Class A Amplifier

The thump also puts me off, how could the designer make such an oversight to not include a muting circuit. Even cheap chinese boards have muting circuits.

Best Class A Amp Ever? Mark Johnson's T2 Class A Amplifier

I just bought one of these boards but now I feel like I dont want to waste the money getting the components to build it. I like precise amps too. I currently have the Whammy and the NuHybrid which I built both myself and I am really happy with those. Just dont want to waste money if they will...
