That’s because recent Beyers have elevated midbass, high bass and also lower midrange. This makes sound really muddy and boomy. Composer on the other hand has downslope from subbass to midrange which make it sound completely different and I believe it can literally „shake” the frame of headphone 😉

There is a DAC in your NAD. Just plug your ET3 to it via optical or coaxial cable

By the way… it’s actually a good thing that ET3 use AirPlay1, because AirPlay2 does use AAC stream instead of ALAC, so AP1 is the only way to get lossless CD quality stream. I know. It’s kind of counterintuitive that newer solution is less capable, but well… I guess Apple doesn’t care that much...

DT1990 with Analytical Pads is basically DT880 with better tonal balance and technicalities, so I guess there is no need for another model there

I hope they will release new flagship next year. They released 3rd generation of their Tesla flagships in 2021, but I must say they weren’t really what I was waiting for, so fingers crossed for some classic high-impedance Beyerdynamic flagships.

Using Optical Out, no upsampling straight to my Element III - damn, this thing is good. CDs sound great, very lifelike, but using Airplay with Apple Music Lossless is also a pleasure, very close to CD playback. :L3000:

My ET3 stopped displaying current playing album artworks on its display when using Airplay. It just shows the same artwork over and over again. Any ideas why?
