Has anyone tried viva’s direct input as power amplifier?

IMHO the issue with tube rolling on this amp is that it is using 5u4gbeh that is different than common 5u4g, same goes for 6sn7gtb and 6n1p-ev. So common substitutes (5u4g, 6sn7, 6n1p) have slightly different specs.

Did you try to replace fuse?

Great pairing with hd800s and also he1000, because it’s not as hungry as susvara. Really 2 headphones that have a synergy with this amp.

I recommend holo spring 3 or may. Should be good.

AFAIK Cayin is already using lbs with tubes on its ha300, so no need to change. And even if you want it’s not easily done, because you will need a totally custom ps. So I recommend don’t bother yourself. May be you can try changing tubes on lps and power cord and see if you like it. I also...

I am thinking the same. IMHO tazh1es is very good as a stand-alone unit. I don’t think it scales well with other dacs and amplifiers.

Try to examine pwaudio cables. IMHO they have good synergy

Hello everyone! I’ve mentioned that most of you consider usb input worse than bnc/spdif, but bnc allows you 384 max upscale, when usb 765. Is bnc worth it, assuming that you lose in max upscaling?

As I understand, the main issue with single bnc to mscaler is the 352.8 max sample rate. With usb and dnc it is 768.

I don’t have much experience with amplification 1266, but imho ha-300 1st gen is driving it pretty well. Better then susvara in my setup.

@Andykong thank you for such an interesting information. I noticed that rated output were changed. Balanced Xlr output becomes the most powerful one, when in old ha-300 it was single ended 6.3.

I didn’t listen by myself, but cayin ha-300 with utopia is considered a great pair. But if you aim for ha-300, there is a new version called ha-300 mkII coming up.

a little bit off topic, but Sony z1r is really sensitive to cables. Somehow they respond very well on cable rolling. I tried changing cable on several different headphones and difference wasn’t as noticeable as with z1r
