    Modified M2tech Hiface Units

Hi, I re-organised the cells from a notebook battery so they gave 8.8V fully charged and 7.5V discharged. I've been using regulators to drop this and hunting around for reasonably priced solutions that improve upon this. I hadn't considered a separate battery just for the xo. I think...

Any experience with ADuM4160 usb isolator ?

Cool ! He sells a kit for US$25 but it uses a buck dc-dc converter - like the AD evm - isn't that noisy too ? It might not be suitable for audio.

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Hi guys, I am going to try a usb isolator - AD's ADuM4160 to be precise - together with making my own cables. Has anyone tried one of these ? I trust it will work with the X2.... ADUM4160 | Full/Low Speed USB Digital Isolator | Digital Isolators | Interface | Analog Devices

Any experience with ADuM4160 usb isolator ?

Hi, I am looking at trying to improve the performance of the y1, y2 and Teralink X2 and one thing I keep coming back to is the noisy USB. I've been looking at this device : ADUM4160 | Full/Low Speed USB Digital Isolator | Digital Isolators | Interface | Analog Devices and a module...

    Modified M2tech Hiface Units

Hi, It's great to read about your mods - I look forward to the pictures ! What 3.3v reg do you use/recommend if not using a 3.3v battery ? The best ic regs I have found are the Texas Instruments REG113 smt and these get down to about 7uV noise. I'd like to find something better for the xo...

    Matrix Mini vs. VALAB

Hi, I listened to a Matrix last week. Unfortunately I didn't get to a-b with anything else, but it did sound very good - I came away with the impression it has very high resolution of detail. I can't say much more than this because I was listening with unfamiliar cans too but it did seem...

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Hi When I started this driver, the asio cpl was set to 16 bit and the audio cpl was on auto. In the bar at the bottom of the audio cpl it says the data playing is 96000/24, so I changed the ASIO bit depth to 24 to match. What is happening with your driver ? Many dsp chips run at 32 bits...

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Have you got any noise specs ? This is my main concern (considering the reg is after a battery and the X2 presents a constant load). EDIT : Flea looks great for noise but it'll only do the xo, not the whole X2 as it is 30mA. http://www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=21940 Tentlabs...

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Hi guys, I've got the day off so I've been playing with the X2. Resampling works, (although the effect isn't as strong as with the pcm2706), so thanks again to all who pointed me this way ! It helps my dac too (Modified Musiland MD-10) cos that loves 96Khz. Resampling also seems to create...

Onkyo SE200PCI-LTD or Asus Xonar Essence ST?

Hi, I think op amps are very much a personal choice. You can try changing the last two to see which you like because these have the most effect. My favourites are AD8599, AD8620, LME49720HA.

Onkyo SE200PCI-LTD or Asus Xonar Essence ST?

VLSC is a feedback circuit, and requires 10 op amp channels in use instead of the normal 6. I don't think it degrades the sound unless the op amps are junk or the caps and res in the circuit are nasty. All op amp circuits use feedback. I've done something similar to this and I wouldn't say it...

Onkyo SE200PCI-LTD or Asus Xonar Essence ST?

Yeah, almost too many right ? I guess the market for high quality sound cards must be pretty huge these days. Maybe one day soon we'll get something truly no compromise audiophile....a completely enclosed, independently powered, ASRC, fully balanced dual mono DAC with class-a head amp....

Onkyo SE200PCI-LTD or Asus Xonar Essence ST?

I have only listened to the Onkyo and Asus. It looks like you've gone all out on your rig so it seems to me you'll want to toy with the sound card a little ? If you're happy just to swap op amps then get the ST. If you don't like it, maybe you can return it ? If you don't care about warranty and...

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Thanks ! Any chance you can find out how the buffer works ? I'm dying to know ... ;-) Thanks again. EDIT: It caused a conflict with another ASIO driver (the other wouldn't open) but after uninstalling and reinstalling both, it's fine again. I can't hear any difference but functionally...

REVIEW: Headstage USB DAC Also Reviewed Meier HEADSIX, iBasso D1 and Headstage Lyrix

yeah, annoying. In brief, check dpc latency. Low means the usb packets get sent on time and this reduces jitter. Free tool : DPC Latency Checker 48khz seems to work better because it is an integer multiple from 12Mhz, the xo for usb. 48 x 250 = 12. That's to do with pll generation...

    Teradak Teralink-X2 released 19.1.10

Hi Fujak, Thanks for the tip. I'm now using the SSE2 version with the mod to exclude 96000 from resampling. It's doubled the load on the processor (7% to 15%) but it works very well with the pcm2706 gear (Headphonia usb dac cable) - a very obvious improvement. Great stuff ! I'll give it a...
