A friend of mine ordered the DX300 and the M8. But he is now (lucky for me) on a business trip and can't receive them. Thats why he changed the address to mine and I should get them within this week - additional he has allowed me to burn them in ;) . So I can give you some thoughts after next week.

Thank you very much. It is more than enough for me, because the OG, my SE and the 2020 are not that different in hissing. The last thing I have to check before buying the M8 (can not find an offer anyways within Germany) is how this topic is with the new DX300 ;)

Has anyone tried the Campfire Solaris with the m8? I am searching for a new DAP to replace my loved WM1Z because it’s too much hiss in this pairing. I really want a black background in terms of can’t hearing the slightest hiss even when not playing music.

All of these 3 amps should do what you want. I never really looked for the inputs because I just need one but if you’re after a transparent sound you should go for the Benchmark or SPL Amp. The Violectric has a bit warm tonality.

The DAC inside the Hugo is superior to the Phonitor. But it’s the way around with the amp. The amp has a greater impact on the sound so in summary the Phonitor sounds better. But best would be Hugo as a DAC into Phonitor as an amp.

The ADI has several filters including oversampling. I don’t have much experience with all of them. I usually used the NOS (no oversampling) and SD Sharp filters. Both sounded the best to my ears. While the NOS has the most balanced sound, the SD Sharp adds something to the high frequencies...

The ADI has more transparency and clarity. Especially with its oversampling modes. Resolution is a bit more tricky. Hugo has definitely the advantage in most areas except the treble.

Here it is :) I’ve added the Chord Hugo 2 on top of the ADI for sound comparisons when I received the Phonitor.

I use the SPL Phonitor XE with it. It is the most neutral amp I came across and that’s awesome because the sound of your DAC is not changing. On top it has better separation and dynamics. The functions for Crossfeed sound awesome too. No comparison to the bad sounding one in the RME.
