Sure, play with EQ without any fear in the bass frequencies (and to a minor extent in mid-highs or lower treble if you're sensitive those frequencies) and I think you'll be positively surprised.

Thanks for the detailed comparison! I'd like to highlight that BL-01 needs some power and proper amping to sound its best. In my case, I use Sonata HD Pro as my portable audio equipment, but plugging a cable extension (or jack adapter) before plugging BL-01 bypasses the "low impedance IEM mode"...

Just make sure you use a different set of tips (throw stock tips away) and if you can, also replace the stock cable with a better one.

That's a major upgrade you're doing... from KZ ES4 to BL-01... Yesterday I had a brief listen to my "old" sets of IEM's (in which there's KZ ES4) and I can tell you that you'll be more than happy with BL-01.

Depending on what you'd want to achieve (increase or reduce bass, increase or reduce treble) people use certain tips. Tips can change sound signature slightly. For BL-01 I'd reccomend Spinfits CP-145 , and if you'd like a cheaper alternative or you don't know which size fits your ears best, you...

Build quality looks better. Shell is bigger on BL-01 though. A new cable is strongly reccomended, as well as different tips (you can throw the stock tips away as soon as your receive it, they're crap)

Well, you've been lucky! But it's a pity to find these differences in sound quality between sets! At least I'm glad to have discovered the full Blon experience now with my 2nd set.

With the first set I always thought it had too much muddy midbass and was lacking some air and extension on top, so I EQ'd it a bit, lowering midbass frequencies and upping a bit 10 - 16kHz. With the second set I do not feel like EQ'ing it at all, the sound is more balanced across the range.
