The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Do you usually strive to be this... snidely defensive of whatever gear you happen to have an emotional investment in? Or do you have some issue with newbies giving listening impressions? My usual heaphones are the 6XX/800S driven out of an EC amp. Naturally I wasn't going to use these as a...

The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Yep, bass sounded thick and overly present compared to the recessed vocals. And certainly, yes, the HD25s are not that the best that money can buy... but they are still better than the NC700 in terms of tonal balance. The NC700 sounded so messed up that I spent a while trying to figure out if...

The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Another sound quality impression, after demoing these in store with wireless. The sound quality is total garbage for a $300+ set of headphones. Overpowered bass, the mid (vocal) range was just sucked out and hollow sounding. I didn't go into the demo with high expectations, but was amazed by...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

I wouldn't call my Bifrost hot at all. It's a bit warm, but I can comfortably keep my hand on it. I was expecting it to run hot.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

You do realise that not all USB sources are equal, right? Because up until the Pi4, which was only released a month ago, the physical chip that controlled the USB bus also controlled Ethernet, which is the main reason that the network port could never reach the claimed Gigabit speed.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

To be fair, the original comment did have the words Modi Multibit in the sentence immediately prior the MM!

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This is one of the best but understated changes! The laser-bright LEDs on my Schiit gear get covered in two layers of slightly naff looking dimming film to bring them down to tolerable levels. On the other hand, I'm really not sure that remote is worthwhile if it doesn't incorporate volume...

Sale on Made in USA Headphone Cases

Burgundy is great- reasonably tasteful, but different enough to be interesting. Bummed that they're unlikely to fit an HD800, otherwise I would have grabbed a case.

    Recommendation for Computer

Both the speakers and the headphones seem to be bluetooth connected, which means they have their own built in DAC and amping. I do not think there is any point with a separate budget DAC or amp. If you want to improve sound quality, look into something wired instead.

    DAC/Amp Upgrade?

No, I should apologize. I completely jumped to the wrong conclusion there as I've spent too much time on forums where people want to insist that all gear should sound the same, because... Science! I've owned (or demoed at home) only a small amount of amps. Five. Ranging in terms of retail from...

    DAC/Amp Upgrade?

Bit of a troll post, no? Sounds like you've already got your mind made up. But if you were not simply trolling then the only way to decide for yourself is to try for yourself. Because this and other forums are already full of the same arguments about ABX or DBT testing that don't need to be...

Buying used headphones- does hours of use matter?

This is just their way of giving an idea of how much they've used the headphones, not an indicator of how much 'life' they have left in them. For example, someone might say they've owned the headphones for 8 months but just used them for 10 hours, which means they've been sitting in a box the...

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

    You're running a $500 USB cable attached to a $400 dac/amp combo? Or as a connector to a DAC and the V280?

    Camera Bag-Fi

Odd that there's not mention of Peak Designs in a camera bag thread? I like their stuff, it seems a little more practically designed than a lot of other camera bags.

    Keyboard-Fi

Because Cherry didn't bother to make new molds for their switches for decades, so they gradually got rougher and rougher. Probably because they had no competition. I have a set of Gaterons which are smoother than my MXes. There are recent reports though that they've improved the smoothness of...

    Keyboard-Fi

For straightforward quality and "never have to change it out of the box" (e.g. no need to mess with caps, springs or lubing) a simple Realforce is hard to beat.

    Best gaming mice

I like the Roccat offerings. Very much dislike anything by Razer- poor longevity, not so great build quality (especially their keyboards).

    DAC or Amp Upgrade

The amp, easily. It'll make a far bigger difference than a DAC.

Are you a console or PC gamer?

PC. Could never give up the keyboard/mouse for a gamepaddything.

Why do we classify headphones/earphones by form factor?

How did I find myself in a thread where someone is seriously trying to argue this: Today I have discovered that functionally, my open backed circumaural headphones should be replaced by earbuds. Because isolation is the sole determinant of headphone functionality. If there was some more...

CHEAP CHINESE FAKE CABLE WARNING ! PLEASE READ THIS !

Aliexpress is just about the last place on Earth I would consider ordering power cables from. I've ordered computer gear from them, and end up using my own generic power cords (the ones supplied have a noticeably inferior plastic insulation even on the outside).

Massdrop x Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid Amp (CTH) - Dropping Monday

You are new on a specialist, enthusiast site. If you don't understand the terms, it's on you to educate yourself rather that demand that everyone else spoon feed you. I wouldn't go onto a car forum and demand that a Mustang be called a "Mustang, a model of car made by Ford"

    New Member Introductions thread

Greetings. Been moving into audio recent, headphones because of space constraints. Intending to make use of collctive wisdom to keep inventory small but hopefully effective. Currently on Mimby feeding an MCTH or a Black Widow. Massdrop 6XX.
