Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Yeah agree, I was just pleasantly surprised with the Gryphon for more contemporary music and the bass boost worked very well with E3.- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Related to portable solutions I think E3 sounds amazing with iDSD signature (sadly discontinued). The amp/DAC section are a bit warm but detailed and makes a nice combination. I haven't tried with the Diablo yet. The Gryphon also sounds great, but seems a bit power constrained. That said it...- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I listen to them both without EQ. For Aeon I use 2 notch white filters. Aeon 2 Noire and E3 sound very different to me. E3 sounds actually closest to Aeon 1 (non RT) in my mind in terms of tuning. Aeon 1 was relatively flat in the mid bass and the RT version and to a greater extend Aeon Noire...- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
With extended listening I'm finding E3 to be fatiguing and significantly brighter in the upper midrange than my other DCA headphones especially with metal. I think I'm pretty sensitive to this region and have always used the two notch white filters on Aeons/Ethers. I absolutely love the treble...- tcellguy

Ok thanks is the elastic OK too? Also; this pad spacer appears to be 3d printed and is a really cool addition to the system.- tcellguy

Is it ok to leave these in the folded configuration in the case long-term? It seems to place a lot of tension on the tensioning system.- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I just listened to E3 for the first time at CanJam. I'm very impressed and likely will end up purchasing these. I did some A/B with the Stealth and at first impression I think I like the Stealth a bit more overall due to a bit wider soundstage and what sounded like more bass definition. That...- tcellguy

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop
I haven't tried in a while, but I seem to recall using the angled pads boosted the bass and dipped the midrange a bit. These like a lot of power and respond well to bass boost from my Loki/Lyr3 setup.- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread
I haven‘t heard the X but have the Aeon RT. Both the noire and RT are great headphones and I use both frequently. The Noire has more bass (sub and mid) and wider sound stage but less forward midrange. RT has less sound stage but more forward midrange and can be made even more forward with solid...- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread
Not sure if this is related. I've had the right driver on my Aeon-RT sort of seize up with greatly reduced output and running it at 100 dB or so for a few seconds frees it up and the channel imbalance goes away. I had a permanent channel imbalance happen with the original AFO I think that was...- tcellguy

Can you handle the Beast! Introducing the iDSD Diablo 2!!
Ah OK. I wish someone would make dongle for higher bandwidth bluetooth transmission. I think Sennheiser made one for AptX adaptive but I haven't seen a lossless or even LDAC transmitter.- tcellguy

Can you handle the Beast! Introducing the iDSD Diablo 2!!
Please let us know what you find out. Would be interesting if this can run directly off mains power. I think most (all?) of the iDSD series stop charging after 80% while on to protect the battery. My gryphon actually never seems to charge above 80% even when off. The iPower for the Diablo comes...- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread
I highly recommend the iFI Diablo for the Aeon 2 / Noire (or any DCA headphones really, ETHER 2 especially). It just has so much power that planars really come to life with it. The DAC section is really great too. The Diablo has great treble extension and adds a bit of energy to the upper...- tcellguy

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I think these are probably my favorite closed backs other than the Stealth, which I'm hoping to buy eventually. ETHER Cx sounds very different, but also good; just way more neutral and less resolving.- tcellguy

Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread
I recall the Asgard 3 being a bit rolled off in the upper midrange / treble and it might be overemphasizing the slightly dipped midrange of Aeon 2 with perforated pads. I run my Aeon 2 with solid pads and a Jotunheim 2 or iFI Diablo, which have more treble extension. The Aeon RT are much more...- tcellguy

iFi audio xCAN - The Official Thread
The gryphon is a huge step up from xCan. The DAC is much better and it can be used with USB-c in to bypass Bluetooth. The Bluetooth implementation is very good too. The xCAN DAC is a bit more V shaped and peaked in the treble so can sound more exciting in some ways. The gryphon sounds more...- tcellguy

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers
Aeon 2 has never fit well for me despite Aeon 1 being super comfortable. I don't know why but I get a hot spot on the top of my head and/or a headache from clamp pressure. The Dekoni pads (solid sheepskin) seem taller than the stock pads but the surface area seems to be larger, so that helped me...- tcellguy
