That’s a good point. It’s hard to say; I don’t have another high end dac/amp for comparison.

It might just be personal preference, or maybe it’s the difference between tube and solid state like others have speculated. I have both coming out of the HDV 820, and I still prefer the 660S.

I actually don't have the 660s yet. Whether or not it would sound good with the Silver Dragon is just part of my pro/con list for if I should get it. Always a pro when expensive after-market upgrades work well for multiple cans :) If I do end up getting them, I'll certainly post my impressions...
