Yep...bass has a physicality to it that no headphones can reproduce.

No reason to expect a difference between silver and copper??...silver is shiney...so obviously "brighter" sounding :) this has got to be one of the most blatant expectation biases out there.....i know you missed me bud:)

Electrostats present an unusual load(capacitive) for an amplifier,it can change high frequency response of the amp....having said that,Stax has been building these things forever...doubtfull thier amps have any short commings.

Good luck with that bud.....would be a pretty tough purchase here at the moment.

Yep...one of my friends has managed(some pretty big)bands since the early 80's.... i remember him saying "there's no point touring if you don't have an album to promote"....the business has changed a few times over the years...the Stones still pull some heavy coin from a few concerts a year though:)

Yep....less time fiddling and more time listening/discovering.I never could have even imagined the way this hobby has evolved over the 45ish years I've been involved.

In a perfect world simple and elegant would be best....but simplicity,elegance,convenience,price ect shouldn't really be a factor of what's best.....what's best is what's best regardless of other parameters.Electrostatic headphones don't seem to suffer from the same sound signature issues as...

Capacitive load of electrostatics (headphones or speakers)can make the amplifier roll off high frequencies...quite noticeable in some cases.

Thats why we have barbeques;)

Yep 90% digital here now.....and that number increases every year.Records have become a way to hear music thats not available on any other format(and a very few that don't have a decent digital counterpart),can't say that i miss the hassle of records too much.

Maybe more like the hula hoop?....but yep at this point i don't think the format is getting by on sales to music lovers.New record sales looks to be more of a "fad" purchase by people a lot younger than me:)

Sorry bud,i have pretty decent headphones and speakers...headphones just don't reproduce the scale of musicians in a room....headphones might be more proficient for dissecting engineering practices (maybe),but for enjoying a musical performance with scale and physicality.....it's got to be...

You have headphones and home speakers to fiddle with....the car should be for enjoying music without fiddling with it...good music is enjoyable on the most primitive of systems.....relax and enjoy the drive/music,you can mess with your home system if you feel the need.

And car keys work even better!

I owned Vandersteen Quatros for 11 years....because of thier powered/equalized bass section i measured/verified bass response about once a year....it didn't change an iota in 11 years.
