Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC
Using a decent USB cables help. What type of PC your using also matters. The Unsion is great sounding compared to any older Schiit wise. Till they come out with a truly noise free USB/PC-it's always going to still be a bit of a compromise. Even with the separate power supply/ cables-you get...- automojo

SQ is subjective. The MMB2 is a great sounding DAC. Frankly-I think it's a better sounding DAC overall-along with the BF2 OG-then a Yiggy OG-certainly a A1/A2 Gumby. But that's my opinion. And my system. IMHO-you need to be aware of your system, how changes effect it. The start searching for a...- automojo

Well I would get several cables-and try each on those seperate computers to isolate it. I'm a bit confused-but IMHO sounds like either a cable on the 'bad' computer-or a issue with the computer. But keep in mind-sometimes usb devices going bad can work on one computer-and sometimes not...- automojo

Sure-makes sense. I don't think any of my stuff is hi-end-fancy. Not the most inexpensive-but most was second hand-blems etc. Except for the 2 Schiit Dac's. Even in the 70's/80's-up I would get the floor models/returns if possible. At least from Schiit-the discount isn't much, and used ones of...- automojo

Sorry about that! Agreed What is the SDAC? Frankly, I was surprised that I do like the MMB2. I think if I switched it over to the other half of my system, I probably wouldn’t like it so much. It works well with the AMT3’s. They are a lively speaker, where the infinities are more delicate. But I...- automojo

Just a FIY. You guys that are digging the NOS.. DAC Box FL.. or DAC Box S Fl may be a good alternative. If you can find them As far as enjoying NOS… i’m not questioning it. But it doesn’t sound natural, or more natural. Colored, for sure. Nothing wrong with preferring either of these nor reason...- automojo

Sure I have not updated my BF2OG to NOS capability. I don’t prefer the NOS mode with the MMB2 in that half of my system. Sounds a little soft, lack of definition. I have a Project DAC Box FL ( TDA 1543x4 NOS I run it off the coax of my Polk XM radio tuner The BF 2 OG of the Polk's Toslink...- automojo

Plus, as an added bonus with the YGGY going away… I didn’t have to deal with the wife for kids always turning it off. The currents are fine after a few. Although I still think after a few hours they’re at the peak- automojo

Ha! I got the same reaction with “foward”!! Yep I think I’m an awkward Schiit DAC consumer. I prefer the BF2OG and the lil MMB2 over the others. Well the only YGGY I had was a OG. But after some thought If I had to choose between the two .. I’d pick the BF2OG… not that that matters because...- automojo

Narrow shallower. A more foward soundstage A soundstage that’s positioned forward… Whatever you wanna call it…I was basically saying the same thing… I don’t mean forward in your face like someone yelling at you 2 inches away etc. I think you have to read the body of my post , as its implied. But...- automojo

I suppose they could’ve made the MMB2 to sound more like the BF2OG. But I think they were trying to widen the appeal of it with this particular sound staging would be my guess.- automojo

Is it mentioned earlier I think the forward positioned sound stage-may be mistaken for liveliness/‘agression’. With some speakers, this might be exasperated. But usually this can be corrected with more space between the listening position and the speakers. Headphones-I guess you'd have to try...- automojo

I'm not sure on the BF2/64-as I never wanted to swap out the boards on my OG. I have heard one more then a few times-but not in my system. From what I recall it's not really like the MMB2-it has it's own sound. Between the BF2OG and MMB2-I would say neither is really a upgrade-more that they are...- automojo

The upgrade card is basically the same as a MMB2. The BF2OG would be a different sound, slightly warmer. It really depends on your preference. I have a BF2OG, and the MMB2-I like both-and could live with either.- automojo

Sure! Well, I guess frankly I never thought of that-directly so to speak. But makes perfect sense! I have been working on this 1.5 system for years-decades I really suppose. The AMT3 MOJO Mods were a 16+ year project (@AK) kids/life happens. Since then added the Infinitiy RSiiia's...- automojo

And maybe this is there are a lot of super tilted up headphones?? I wouldn’t know about that. I’ve got a pair of 90’s Yamaha studios that I use on occasion but I’m not a headphone guy.. Agreed!! I wish people would quit describing the MMB2 as bright!! Because let’s face it, it has negative connotations. Plus it’s simply not a accurate description. Its definitely more detailed and transparent the the MMB1v2… but if it sounds bright, it’s the recording. As it should be. But you...- automojo

Sure I get that they need to warm up to sound good… though these two don’t need the warm up time as the Gungnir, or aforementioned YGGY My comment was merely about the outside temperature and the difference between the 2.- automojo

Agreed about warm up time on MMB2. Same with BF2 OG. My BF2 runs on the warm temp wise. MMB2 runs relatively cool, but seems to run warmer when being used vs being on with no signal, running through it.- automojo
