I can definitely confirm I can hear a difference with the Halo output on my Atriums. It’s real and it does good things.

That’s my point! You can spend very little on your source chain and get amazing sound as long as your headphone choice is good 😊 But if your headphones suck, it doesn’t matter what amp and dac you connect them to. Your headphones still suck.

Totally fine to agree to disagree. My Atriums sound amazing even amped by a THX amp and a Modi dac. You can’t make an Ultrasone sound good even paired with a Chord Dave and amped by Chernobyl. To each their own.

Couldn’t disagree with this more. Of course, you can think and believe whatever you want. With very few exceptions, the most important part of the chain is almost always the headphones.

Both are great but I prefer the Atrium Open. I like its more forward mids, slightly higher quantity of mid bass, as well as its more forgiving nature. It’s just so detailed, pleasant, and musical.

The Halo output is really growing on me. I’m baffled to what is happening to the sound but on some tracks it’s not subtle. Very interesting tech and glad to have it as an option.

You’re confusing input and output. Having the ability to go balanced in, depending on the dac, can double the voltage, usually 4V vs 2V. This sends a louder signal to the amp and so you will definitely be getting more volume regardless of whether the amp is single ended or balanced out.

All Hifiman are known for harsh and elevated treble. It’s part of their house sound. Unless you’re older and have lost some of your hearing, that’s the way it will sound.

Atriums sound good period. You could amplify them with Loch Ness water and they’d sound organic and good.

I feel like that frequency response looks pretty damn good! Doesn’t resemble anything like Hifiman, Beyerdynamic, or Grado.
