That's great to hear, thanks for clarifying!

    ZMF Aegis Official Thread

A few posts with pics seem to show a lower output power for XLR vs RCA (max 1.8W vs 2.5W). I'm curious why this would be the case as I would have thought it'd be the other way around (e.g. Cayin HA-6A)

ZMF Atrium Closed - the latest closed back headphone from ZMF

Has anyone compared an Atrium Closed in Queensland Maple to any other wood? Just curious what the sonic differences are and if it's similar to the generic differences between very hard and softer woods since it's on the softer side.

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

I've moved from a Cayin HA-6A with $$$ NOS tubes to an all Ferrum stack (Oor, Wandla, Hypsos) as I could never quite dial in the sound even with tube rolling. Plus it's half the desktop real estate when stacked. All the punch and slam from the SS Oor and a rich, DSD sound with a massive stage...

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

Sorry, I had a typo.. hottest to coldest I was told by support was Hypsos, Oor, Wandla. Technically you'd stack coldest to hottest, but I reversed Oor and Wandla and put feet in between for my own convenience. To be honest, Ferrum stated it didn't matter what order it was stacked.

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

I've put isolation feet between the Oor and Wandla (with Hypsos at the bottom) and don't have any issues with heat. I also turn it off the Oor and Wandla when not in use. This must be Ferrum's most asked question... their support told me it's not an issue, but stated that Hypsos, Oor then...

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

Looking at my invoice, I had to buy an extra cord. Hypsos had one cord, splitter had another, and I bought one to hook up the Wandla.

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

My general impression of the filters, and mind you they are all so close to each other and I'd be perfectly happy with any of the HQ ones, and it really comes down to personal preference and the music you listen to HQ-Apod - the most technically correct/analytical with the best sense of space...

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

I mostly use HQ-Gauss vs the HQ-Apod/HQ-Apod-MP filters for the richer, more dynamic/punchier sound. HQ-Short is a close second. I've been using Wandla in Analog mode with the Oor in bypass so I can use the remote control instead of reaching over my desk to change the volume control

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

I used a 3 pin 3.5mm, but yea, moot with 1.2 so I've removed it.

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

With the 1.2 Firmware, it actually doesn't need a 3.5mm cable or triggers to be set. It looks like the Wandla will turn on from the Hypsos and splitter if the Wandla's Power-up mode setting is set to "Working".

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

I have the Oor and Wandla powering up from the Hypsos knob. A solid push will turn it on or off. - Hypsos: Trigger -> Out - Oor: left at XLR - Wandla: Trigger Detection -> In; PowerUp Mode-> Working (with 1.2 firmware) I have a 3.5mm cable from the Hypsos to the Wandla trigger ports.

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

I'm struggling to use Wandla with HQP via Roon with max sample rate and LNS15 dither with any of the poly-sinc-gauss filters. In particular anything that is 44.1Khz at 1x has lots of clicks and pops. Hi-res seems to work OK. CPU isn't really an issue and lower sample rates seem OK. Did you have...

    Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread

Has anyone figured out a way to get the Hypsos to fully power-on both the Oor and Wandla completely from stand-by? I've tried the following, assuming I have a trigger cable from the Hypsos to Wandla and the Oor input selector ON - Power on Standby = OFF - Oor goes from OFF to ON (which is good...

How big of a difference will using single-ended RCA outputs vs. XLR balanced on the Wandla to an Oor (if any?).

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Might be worth checking if the mantle mesh is installed as I believe it is by default on newer builds? I prefer mine without it on.

Originally purchased in November 2021, this is a highly regarded desktop integrated amplifier for both demanding headphones and compact loudspeakers. It retails for $2,500 and was purchased from HeyNow Hifi in Australia. It's a very musical sounding headphone amplifier with a slight sub-bass...

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

For those who've moved on from a Cayin HA6A to a Holo Bliss, I'm curious what were the specific differences are and the magnitude of difference? I'm pretty happy with the HA6A + Caldera combo, but can't help it's missing a bit of slam even with KT88s compared to the SS amps I have.

Cayin HA-6A Class A KT88/EL34 Tube Headphone Amplifier

I'm looking at getting a Holo Spring DAC with my HA-6A, but not sure if I need to get the preamp option? Thoughts from anyone here? I have a Chord Qutest running at 3V and typically get to about 1-2pm on the amp.

Cayin HA-6A Class A KT88/EL34 Tube Headphone Amplifier

When I had Brimars, they were similar to the Mullard CV4003s but with a little more air up top, but otherwise very similar. Langrex has some Brimar 13D5s that are worth trying for the price.

Cayin HA-6A Class A KT88/EL34 Tube Headphone Amplifier

And I was perfectly happy with the TFK (ribbed) when I first had PSVane KT88s but everything got thrown out when I put in the Sophia Electrics which are more linear than the PSVanes. That made me start rolling the lesser known tubes. It's also worth giving the Tesla ECC802S a go if you like the...

Cayin HA-6A Class A KT88/EL34 Tube Headphone Amplifier

All the talk of 12AU7s I thought I'd share my opinion on the stack that I've rolled lately, almost more than I paid for the 6A second-hand  . This is all with SE KT88s in UL mode with ZMF Calderas on Low impedance. So far: Amperex 7316 - probably my favourite (and most expensive)...
