    Furious!

Wow $130k for a dac. For that money you could buy an Yggy and something nice to carry it in, like a Ferrari.

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Apologies, this was bad taste. Also there's another discussion (for another place), about enjoying an artist (music/film) and their off-stage antics/beliefs/behaviour. I have no clear answer here. As some of the most famous artists had repulsive behaviour/beliefs.

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I have mine on the way too, however I plan on playing them from my AV receiver for a while first before breaking out the Schiit (Valhalla 2), as consensus reads that it sounds decent with about anything, but really scales with a better amp. So I want to experience a baseline before going to what...

I'd argue that Nespresso is the Sonos of coffee. It just works, most people are very happy with it. But to me it is overpriced and underperforms, but hey it is absolutely idiot proof.

There will always be people who can't understand that other people have a different opinion from them (especially if it is something they feel strongly about, being positive or negative). And it's much easier for their world view to blame bias in moderation/admins/contributors than accept that...

    Schiit Owners Unite

Thanks, I am more of an album listener myself, and sometimes when faced with an artist that has a huge back catalog it can be a bit overwhelming where to start. Often the allmusic recommended album is a good place to start (although they sometimes recommend a "greatest hits" album, booh!).

Frugal-Fi: tell us about your awesome gear at frugal prices

Thanks @megabigeye I used to run a BeagleBone Black (instead of a Pi) as an MPD server. However as I couldn't find any Spotify players that supported gapless playback (a must for me as I love live albums and the occasional prog rock album). So I replaced the BBB with my old (taken back out of...

Frugal-Fi: tell us about your awesome gear at frugal prices

Only audiophile purchase I have buyers remorse over is my turntable (a Rega RP1 with performance pack), that I bought full retail price. The AT cartridge salvaged it a bit, but I still pointlessly paid for the performance upgrade.

Okay maybe I was trying to be a bit overly dramatic. Sorry for that. I just noticed that I got some likes on a remark I made about being frugal, as well as my only pm I ever received being a frugal cartridge recommendation I thought hey this frugal thing might be a good idea for my first topic...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

I actually recently bought a NAD C516BEE CD player, and have it connected to my DAC via RCA/Coax. It might not be the last word in hi-fi. But for the price it produces great sound to me (and no playback noise). I also firmly believe that audio components should be matched in price/quality. So...

We call that "hipster inflation". Honestly I have skipped a few records that I would like to have, mainly because the price is not right.
