    Introducing MOMENTUM 4 Wireless

I will be travelling very soon and need a headphone for travelling, taking phone calls and office work. Although not a fan of BT ANC headphones, have listened the momentum 4 at bestbuy and compared to other BT ANC headphones for 3 hours today, and a 100 discount, placed the order after. At home...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Currently can't find the best DAP for E3. The best portable solution now is chord mojo 2 to my ears.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

dx320 max will drive E3 with no problem. But it is too large and can't fit into the pocket. Regular dx320 is the largest size DAP I will take on the go. Although it can drive E3 better than AK kann ultra, it is not loud enough to fully enjoy the E3. Waiting ibasso release a new DAP replacing...

OK. Thanks. Please let me know how does amp 12 module work on E3 when you have it.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

What amp module do you have on the DX320? Default amp11mk2, or amp 12, 13, 14? Amp 12 has the best output current and should drive E3 with no problem. But haven't tested yet.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Here are 4 DAPs recommended by Headfonics: Ibasso DX320 max, Fiio M17, HiBy RS8, Cayin N8ii https://headfonics.com/dan-clark-audio-e3-review/2/ All DAPs are not pocket friendly though. But portable dac amps are working fine. Like Chord mojo 2. I am still waiting a new DAP that can drive E3...

    Meze Liric Closed Back

No. It's not gonna happen. As you go high end, sound is the top priority. You just can't afford electronics to downgrade sound quality. Focal Utopia, Audeze LCD 5, all the same. Only lower models offers wireless options like focal bathys, Audeze maxwell, etc, and all of these are closed back.

    Meze Liric Closed Back

You see, these are all low end hifiman open back models. For high end, like arya, he1000, you will never see wireless models.

    Meze Liric Closed Back

I don't think there is a market for wireless open back headphones. Only one I know is hifiman ananda BT. Since you already wear open back headphones, Which means you want the best sound, and of course wired headphones will give you the best sound. If you want wireless, you have to sacrifice the...

    Meze Liric Closed Back

If you try DCA E3, the same price as liric, you will be blown away how good can a wired headphones sound. Dali and Solitaire are not even close.

    Meze Liric Closed Back

No. BT is not that good yet. The sound of BT is still behind wired for quite a margin. I hope the liric ii will be similar design to 109pro. Unfortunate to see the same design. I bet the price will be similar to first liric at launch, us 2000. My guess it will be easier to drive, warmer and...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Yeah. When I listened to mojo 2 in the dealer store, not as detailed and open as hugo 2, but it was smooth and easy to listen. I can see why the dealer recommend and convince me get mojo 2 with E3 for portable setup so much. It is really a great portable combo. Since I already have hugo 2...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

But after the review, We all agree that E3 is very hard to drive. Portable DACs and DAPs already push their limits to almost the ceiling. I really wish Dan will make future E3 easier to drive. Not crazy easy to drive. But at least friendly to more portable sources. Like LCD5.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Well, he has tested more gear than us. Of course he will have the sense of best sound coming from E3. I agree Hugo 2 may not push E3 to the top. But the gap should be very close. Sure portable DAP will not push E3 to the top, but should be good enough to listen. That's another why I am keeping...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

I am refering to the video. To me Hugo 2 already sound good enough. From the review, still not push E3 to the top.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

According to his review, Hugo 2 still can't push E3 to the top. Wow! Basically all portable setups are gone. Only desktop setups will work fine. Although sound amazing, too bad for such a compact portable headphone that can't take on the go. Hope Dan will come out an easier to drive version of...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

It will. Just need to wait. Audeze LCD 5 will be an example. Although still a little picky, it is much easier to drive.

DX320 ROHM dac chips, Android 11, AMP11MK2s. *******NEW FW: 2.07*******

My old solution is to get DX320 with amp 12 pair with my DCA E3. But amp 12 is mostly out of stock. May be discontinued? Hope a new release will make the max version more pocket friendly, or the regular version more powerful.

DX320 ROHM dac chips, Android 11, AMP11MK2s. *******NEW FW: 2.07*******

I don't need extremely long run time. 5 hours is enough for most trips. If I need more, I will take a power bank with me. I am not a fan of IEMs. Yes, it sounds good, but I can't wear them for extended of time. Max around 4 hours. Over ears headphones certainly can do, and also sounds better...

DX320 ROHM dac chips, Android 11, AMP11MK2s. *******NEW FW: 2.07*******

At least it can fit in the pocket. A little bigger size than a phone. Waiting Ibasso to release a new dap to replace DX320 and hope it is more powerful than DX320.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Due to business concerns, I don't think manufactures will release full specs of daps. They will only focus some impressive numbers on the specs. For example: AK kann ultra, 16V highest voltage, no wattage, no max current data, tested does not work good with E3. Chord mojo 2, 4.2V, 0.6W at 30...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

@marcusd I am curious to see if regular Ibasso DX320 with amp12 module will drive E3 well, and how it compares to chord mojo 2, or do you have to have DX320max to drive E3 properly.
  24. liujun050612

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

The balanced output and voltage is not super important if the amp can provide consistent high current that most planar headphone demands. Yes, the chord Mojo 2 or hugo 2 does not have balanced outputs and mojo 2 don't have huge wattage compare to other dacs. But they are more than enough drive...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Only transportable DAP will do. Most cannot fit into the pocket. Here is the list of DAP from Headfonics: Cayin N8ii, Ibasso DX320max, FiiO M17, HiBy RS8. https://headfonics.com/dan-clark-audio-e3-review/2/ the Ibasso 320max probably works better. But I am curious to see if regular DX320 with...
