When plugged in, ACG sounds much better to me than balanced. When not plugged in, balanced sounds a little better than ACG.

I rolled a dollop of Sugru into the spaces around both jacks -- as someone way back in the thread suggested. That would seem to prevent movement, but I still insert and remove gingerly and try to avoid any unnecessary jerking around when listening. Mine lives a pretty cozy, sedentary life.

I used Sugru for the sockets. So far, so good. Just gotta get the right little tools to get it around and inside the holes.

Mine will sometimes get warm, even when it isn't charging. Haven't figured out why, but it did get hot when I had some fake-a$$ micro disks in it. Those screwed up my life for a few days! Nothing worked right until I got a "real" micro disk that didn't come from Ebay (live and learn).

Uploading Problems I'm sure it must be me, but I don't know why sometimes I can load a FLAC, a WAV, or MP3 file onto the SD card, and it will play like a charm. Other times, I load the same kind of file and it won't play at all, or will start and then go all glitchy. + It seems really finicky...

Peachtree Shift had an occasional drop with 10.3.1. Better than Oppo or Dragonfly. Updated to 10.3.2 yesterday. One drop. Drops usually occur when I doing something in another app.

Peachtree Shift. So far, so good. The Topping NX4 worked, too, but the usb was too loose and thus was useless. Luckily there's Amazon returns.

This is just to say I have gotten a Topping NX4 from Amazon. No drops. Good DAC. Good power. $109.

Dragonfly Red with CCK3 = fail.   Drop. Drop. Drop.   Copper shield away, but for my phone it is clearly a lack of communication caused by iOS 10.3.1.   Wondering now about switching to Onkyo DP-X1.

This (seems to have) worked for me to end the drops: With Oppo powered on and plugged into iPhone, do a hard reboot. Also, using the 5" Cinnamon cord I flipped the phone and Oppo so the USB and lightning are at the top and bottom and ran cord between. Had good luck with this all day.

Taking a picture did cause a drop, though.
