Not sure if anyone has said this before in the thread, but the new small pads are on the site now.

I can somewhat see where he's coming from, but I still think that this is odd. I don't have the original pads but i do use the PSB pads on mine, which are said to be similar to the sound on the original pads and even have the same foam layer. With the PSB pads, the sound at first seems like the...

Same with me. If they really do sound better, I hope they're available separately soon.

Weirdly enough, the new pads are actually bigger in height. Only thing smaller is how deep they are by 1mm. The main difference is that the new ones that simulate the old, small pads have a layer of foam on the back. I don't own them btw, just from the site

After checking, the depth of the new pad revision is 1mm less than the current pads but the same width and more height

I'm worried sbout this new pad revision... there is a frequency response graph comparing the pads on Massdrop. The wording is confusing but the newer pads seem even warmer and bassier than the old ones. They're also bigger than the current pads and have foam dampening, which could just muffle...

Yes, those are definitely the old pads, seeing as the inside is smooth.

Found these brainwavz pads on amazon and they looked intresting... they have the same foam layer of the original smaller pads and look to be decent replacements but they may or may not fit the 99C's. They also look a bit thinner so they could sound worse that some of the other replacement pads...

Reply to review by 'Zenrap518' on item 'Massdrop X Hifiman HE 4XX'

How bad really was the imaging? Was it literally like listening in mono? Were there any other songs that stood out with this problem specifically? I want to see if mine has this same issue but don't want to open mine up. It doesn't seem like it but i just want to make sure. Thanks/

For anyone who has these, how do the HiFiMan HE-4xx and Sundara compare to the 99C's?

My Pleather earpads have a mildew smell after cleaning them. Any way to remove?

I cleaned them because they were a bit sweaty and the things i did were in the PSB M4U1 owners guide. My mistake was putting them in the case before they had dried completely. I just tried putting them next to a window with sunlight passing through and the smell seems to have lessened. Ill try...

Need help with purchase advice and recommendations for my audio setup

I also have the Meze 99 Classics. I have a Schiit Magni 2/Modi 2 and don't hear much, if not any difference when i use it, compared to my iPad. They don't really need much power. Also, most people say that larger pads don't sound very good with the Meze 99 Classics. If you have the new larger...

My Pleather earpads have a mildew smell after cleaning them. Any way to remove?

I recently cleaned my Meze 99 Classics, on which i switched out the pads to the PSB M4U 1 pads. I used a wet cloth to clean the headphones and the pads, while still attached to the headphones. After that, i (stupidly) put them in the case and left it there for a couple of days. When i used them...

Neutral, wide, detailed open headphone ~$600

Sorry for the late reply. Most of my music is Modern Pop/Rap and Electronic, with a bit of Classic Rock. Most aren't very well recorded so i'm leaning towards the Sundara more. Are the DT1990's harsh with bad recordings? How revealing are the sundaras? Thanks everyone.

Neutral, wide, detailed open headphone ~$600

I am planning to eventually get a pair of open backed headphones to compliment my Meze 99 Classics. I'm looking for something more detailed, airy, and wide, with a neutral sound signature. I was looking at the Beyerdynamic DT - 1990 Pro and he HiFiMan Sundara, but I could use some help on...

I just contacted Parts Canada Lenbrook (Where you can get PSB Pads from directly), and it costed me $15 for shipping to Canada, and he Pads itself were free, since I actually have a pair of PSB M4U1's with warranty. Without warranty, it would have costed around $45 with shipping.

Well, my extra pair of PSB earpads that i used on my 99C's just started tearing... anyone know of an alternative that makes the 99C's sound like when they had the original, better sounding pads? Or where you can buy replacement pairs of PSB earpads?

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread

I fully agree with you. If anyone has a spare pair of PSB M4U1 pads, i recommend trying them on the Meze's, as those apparently make them sound like the Meze's with the old pads. I cannot confirm this, as i haven't heard the Meze's with the old pads, but they do tighten up the bass while still...

Are the insides of your pads smooth, or wrinkly? Bansaku said earlier that if the insides are smooth, you have the old ones. If they are wrinkly, they're the bigger ones. I found this to be true.

Could someone please try listening to this song and say if the bass bleeds into the vocals in the first 15 seconds?
