I tried the sennheiser hd 598se and M40x the past month. Both were awful. The 598 was cut at 9khz and the lower mids/bass were overly emphasized with no sub bass. the m40x were better having a extended response but they sounded bad for being so "neutral" i believe that around 4-5-6khz it was...
