Spirit Torino Valkyria
Just started revisiting the Valkyria after the arrival of the Horizon. Or, rediscovering them again? Their raw and visceral take, their forceful portrayal of the Masculine in music are now conveyed with a novel sense of continuous flow. Almost a touch of romance I have yet to decide whether...- simorag

Thanks! These DACs are musical instruments, really. Some tube rolling will be unavoidable in the future (temptation is too strong, although the H. sounds so marvelous already), but I hope I will not make it an addiction ;-)- simorag

Thanks! It sounds nice, it sings to the heart ;-) The electronics on top shelf is a tube DAC, the Horizon from Lampizator (Poland). The amp sits on 2nd tier, it's a AIC-10, a hybrid design from Riviera (Italy). And a quick update shot after some fine tuning on the DAC (Omicron isolation...- simorag

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
DAC changes potentially have a way broader and more audible effect than rolling the AIC-10 tube. Changing the Riviera tube is very noticeable as well, but not as transformative. Still, it allows a degree of freedom for optimization of the synergy, very welcome and easy when one owns multiple cans.- simorag

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
So the partnership between the Immanis and the Horizon DAC turned to be - in my system - all I hoped for, and more, to the point that I feel a whole new stage of my audio journey has unfolded. Due to this, I find it sensible to expand my feedback so far by putting into perspective how the...- simorag

Binaural recordings on the Immanis are totally exhilarating. As a fellow Valkyria owner, you should have access to some of Andrea's own binaural recordings and the spookiness of most of them is to be heard to be believed. A great collection is this one, and the first song (Stompin' at the...- simorag

RAAL 1995 Immanis
I confirm Aperio has the closest sound signature to Immanis from my experience. Very technical, unbelievably fast and resolving, yet still musical and complete When I had my private audition of the Aperio (only 6 hours unfortunately) I tried them paired by an Aurender W20 SE server. On that...- simorag

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
When I owned the Susvara, I drove them out of the speakers taps of my AIC-10. In the same period, I tried it on several amplifiers (mostly speaker amps), ranging from high-end 300B to high-powered solid state ones (some are listed here, plus many others followed), with consistent results. Out of...- simorag

LOL I have bigger projects than that about tube rolling, but I am not in a hurry. In its stock form the Horizon is already providing a major sound change (for the better) that I want to taste for a little while before taking the next step :) It has been this one with the Immanis. Chills all...- simorag

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
The tonality of the Immanis is - to my ears - neutral / cool. The midrange and treble are crisp, sparkling, with a substantial amount of treble energy. The bass foundation is substantial as well, although very tight, which provides a balancing act to what otherwise would have been an overly lean...- simorag

RAAL 1995 Immanis
Timbre is a key subject when it comes to reaction to reproduced music, perhaps even the foundational one when dealing with acoustic, unamplified sound. We may have a hard time in defining what it is with words, but our brain-ear is able to detect 'weird' stuff from our audio equipment, and very...- simorag

RAAL 1995 Immanis
After over a month of ownership of the Immanis, I am now well over the honeymoon and most importantly the brain / ear adaptation stage. This allows me to fully relax while listening to music through them, instead of being overly inquisitive in my sessions. Of the many talents of this headphone...- simorag

Spirit Torino Valkyria
Today is a sad day for piano lovers, as Maurizio Pollini, one of the most remarkable musical figures of the last half century, passed away at age 82. He started as a Chopin virtuoso, and later on applied his talents on a wide repertoire, including contemporary. We are lucky he left a...- simorag

That's right, and I was perfectly happy with the Rossini stack, it's a great source, but made the mistake of auditioning this ... Need to wait another 2 weeks before I clasp my hands on it, though. I have high expectations of it paired with the Immanis.- simorag

Spirit Torino Valkyria
After some EQ, the Immanis is the only headphone I have experienced that can compete and even surpass - on certain aspects - the 1266 for electronica. The 1266 sub-bass has more slam and subwoofer-like air motion interaction with your skull, but Immanis goes similarly deep and, EQ'ed, provide...- simorag

Spirit Torino Valkyria
Only a rather cryptic en passant hint here (and in some side notes on subsequent posts on the same thread), for now. I confirm Immanis and Valkyria define a very different take on music listening. They strike - in me - totally different aural and emotional strings, where the Valkyria is more...- simorag

These are made for piano, yesterday I was at a concert (first row), and as I went back home I wanted an extra dose of Gaspard de la Nuit. Well, it was almost a seamless experience what I got from the Valkyria ... truly amazing.- simorag

I am closer indeed, but I need to wait until my new DAC is here (should be within 3 weeks from now) to reassess system synergy / overall balance and most importantly my emotional response to the new sound. What I can confidently say is that the Immanis (with or without EQ) brought me at the...- simorag
