Help choose new headphone - hd598 user considering dt770 and he400i
I have the HE-400i, as well as the HD 598 burls, and I find the 598 spends more time on my ears. Also use the Audioquest Nighthawk, so the majority of ear time is split between the NH and the 598. Don't get me wrong, the 400i is a nice headphone, but I seem to prefer the lushness of the NH and...- Linus1

Sub-$500 DAC to pair with Burson Soloist SL Mk II?
Not sure about the 650s, but I have a used Soloist Mk II and it's paired with a used Cambridge Audio DacMagic (one of their older offerings) and they seem to get along alright. I use Audioquest Nighthawks, HD598 burls, and B+W P7s and they all run decently. Hope this helps a little...- Linus1

Does RCA switcher degrade audio quality?
I'd be interested in answers/thoughts as well (wanting to use an HDMI switcher to isolate my CATV as it introduces hum to my system) and for the RCA situation. Almost thinking that getting a pair of those female-female connectors between RCA cables would help a lot. Yes, the connector might...- Linus1

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread
Just checked tonight, saw that Solutions AV has no stock in either model. Fortunately I snagged a -2 about a month ago from them. I use the HA-2 only with my iPod classic (long 30 pin cable is a drag, though), both with headphones and using the line-out with computer speakers (at work) and...- Linus1

Looking for some decent closed headphones, $600 budget.
My choices would be the B+W P7 (own one....nice and they are portable), PM3 (they are supposedly real nice, they are portable, but I don't own one), and maybe the Nightowl that you have listed (I own the Nighthawk...love them, but are only transportable, not portable). For the amp/DAC, may I...- Linus1

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
I've given the 400i another good listen while home this last time (not as much as I was hoping, though), and found hearing an old Genesis album (Foxtrot) with my little rig (Sony blu-ray player/Cambridge DacMagic/Burson Soloist MKII), the bass is very, very satisfying. I'll go along with your...- Linus1

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Thanks for that...it was as I had hoped! Thanks too, frogmeat69! I'm running my 400i with a Burson Soloist MKII, and they (as well as my Nighthawks) seem to run rather well with the power this unit puts out....and not really advancing the volume all that much either. I've not tried to run...- Linus1

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Yes, it does help! Not sure I need the 3m length, but knowing the cable is indeed well built (good quality) is great! Thanks much!- Linus1

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Have you recieved your cable, and how do you like it? I'd like to look at one of these later - spent a lot on my rig (stereo and headphone) lately. Could anyone tell me if the same connectors would fit the Audioquest Nighthawk? It would be a far eaiser purchase to justify if the cable...- Linus1

Your Current Headphone Collection
Greetings: 1) Sennheiser HD 598 (burl). These were my first foray into headphones, and scored these last year on Amazon's Prime Day. Love them, they are my go-to for run-of-the-mill listening. Light and very comfy. I'll always keep these around, just too good at what they do. The colour puts...- Linus1

HIFIMAN HE-400i or AudioQuest Nighthawk
Greetings: I ended up with both - sale price $300CDN off each, so it was a deal for me (bought the NH first when they were on sale, the 400i at New Years). Love both of them, so I won't part with neither. I've been very lucky to have found all my 'phones on sale, so overall costs way...- Linus1

Music lover looking to grow his headphone collection
Greetings: First post here. If you are looking to dabble with different headphones, might I direct you to Amazon? Right now, the Sennheiser 598 burls (open) and the 598 Cs (closed) are on sale (around $200/ $120 CDN each). These two 'phones are rather nice, I have both of these. The...- Linus1
