Sony WH-1000XM4 discussion and reviews
Just preordered my set. The only other ANC I was really considering was the sennheiser and that’s due to sound quality. Wonder what the difference is between the two as I heard that the xm4 has an improvement in soundstage etc- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
So after trying it out with both the micro idsd bl and the cobalt, I feel like I should comment on my findings just in case anyone else searches up a similar issue. In terms of what I was looking for, the idsd left me a very happy customer, it makes rap, edm/electronic and rock tracks way more...- osanilevich

Using a DAP as an amp source?
Hello all, tried searching for an answer to this question and couldn't find anything concrete. Is there any benefit to using a good DAP (A&K/Sony/FiiO) with a portable dac/amp like the Hugo 2 or the idsd bl? I'm assuming the DAP would have better output than my iphone but will it result in more...- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
Thank you for the well wishes lol. I was about to return it but the sheer difference in sound when I used the cobalt/desktop convinced me to keep it. Difference was more than incremental (even the bass was satisfactory) it's just a matter of getting those same results in a mobile setting- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
The thing is, when I plug them in to a desktop with the cobalt they sound really good, markedly better than from my iphone with or without the cobalt (same audio files etc). Going by that it looks like these headphones can be great for me its just a question of finding the proper setup and eq...- osanilevich

Yeah starting to realize that, I guess when people say a headphone is easy to drive they mean you should only use it by itself in case of emergency lol- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
Really appreciate the insight. I was looking at those streaming services but it isn't worth it to me if I have to give up half my songs. Looks like I'd have source high quality versions of a lot of my current library independently which would be an enormous project so the best I can do is make...- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
yeah I'm currently shifting my library to Spotify since they have the best combo of library size and actual eq settings. Do you recommend any dac that might do the trick? Or maybe an astell and kern or something?- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
Yeah I've been trying to do that but being on Apple music (tidal has too few songs imo), the eq options are horrible. Looks like I gotta try my luck with Spotify or something- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
I guess in comparison to the reference sound it might but I guess that just means I have different expectations from what I'm looking for in a headphone. I guess the best headphones should be the most "reference" but I found the reference sound to be sterile, probably because I want a more "fun"...- osanilevich

Stellia bass boost?
Just picked up a stellia and while I do enjoy the detail does anyone know of any ways (maybe a dac/Amp or different pads) to get a nice bass thump going or a more lively sound? I tried hooking it up to a dragonfly cobalt and it took out whatever little bass was left. Any help would be appreciated- osanilevich

I really listen to anything, rock, rap, classic, edm, country so I don't have a preference as long as it sounds good. I guess versatility between the genres is most important- osanilevich

Thanks for that explanation, I had no idea headphones worked that way. Guess that serves me right for not doing my due diligence and researching headphones alone- osanilevich

Audeze SINE Series
So, as I understand it, as I get higher quality headphones I need external instruments to make them work? The thing that weirds me out is that the sound I got on older, supposedly lower end headsets were better than this headset even on the same computer- osanilevich

Audeze SINE Series
I use a Windows PC so I don't think a cipher cable will solve my problems. I'm hoping its a break in thing, the customer service rep said approx 100 hours. And do you mind explaining what you mean by 'scaling'? I currently just plug it into my computer, like my previous headsets (Sony MDR-1R is...- osanilevich

I also found the bass to be really lacking. Not that I expected thumping base but compared to my $300 Sony's it seems like entire layers of bass were 'removed' from the track when I put these on. The fact that it doesn't particularly make up for it in any other department leaves a lot to be desired- osanilevich

Literally just unpacked mine. Severely disappointed with the sound. Is anyone else on this boat or does it take time for them to "break in" (I know its a contested topic but nonetheless, I think its a thing).- osanilevich
