EXT scales up very nicely via portable amplifier. It really needs an amplifier to release its full potential.

To me, EXT is very cable sensitive. Easy to hear the sonic difference between different cable pairing.

I swapped cable for better sound performance only. I am fine with the material on stock cable.

That's fine not to like EXT (I absolutely love mine though). According to someone (sorry, forgot his name), the EXT already had 100 hours burn in when you received it. I dont think further burn in would make huge differences.

At least 50 hours I would say.

First of all. Sorry for my English and it's difficulty for me to describe the sound I heard. Anyway, I just did A/B test between my universal VE8 & EXT. Treble on EXT is much more crispy and more defined (but never harsh to me) than VE8. Vocal I think VE8 has slight more body (or forward)...

I would never call EXT has a recessed mid. It's just the mid is not the spotlight of the show like OG Elysium.

I tried the Azla Crystal but switched to Alza Sedar Light short tip eventually, once the bass settled down after burn in.

I think the only drawback of EXT is the size of nozzles. Really hard to tip roll.

I don't have Elysium OG. I was comparing the 2 different modules of SE180 with EXT.

Just tried out EXT with SE180+SEM2. Vocal with more body and even more punchy bass. However, treble is less crispy than SEM1. Also, soundstage & separation is a bit narrower. I prefer the crispy, airy sound with adequate bass produced by SEM1.
