Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

i suggest you research that for yourself - i have no experience there per https://www.khadas.com/tone1 [1] Android supports only 44.1KHz output due to the Sample Rate Conversion(SRC) resampling implementations. [2] Will also support other Single Board Computers (SBCs). Compatible OSes...

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

my elear came with the bespoke case included for ~ $540aud delivered, earlier in the year and it's a good case - https://www.minidisc.com.au/focal-hard-shell-carrying-case and thus an even bigger bargain there's this available also much cheaper https://www.ebay.com.au/i/184370703097 but in...

you must have hearing like a bat admittedly i'm a little old and frequencies >14k are diminished significantly, but both through the htpc and phones the output is impressively silent where that's what is being transmitted

by form factor i meant the shape; like your cases for the vim stuff, not sure curves and diagonals and "decoration" is what serious users look for wrt the led : make the lights able to be dimmed via the interface and you will win a lot of friends one user's "dull" is another user's "blinding"...

my only comparison can be to the ad700 and the akg q701, all of which are open back the ad700 were a great intro to phones, and lovely; the q701's are more of the same, only "better" - detail / bass / stage the elear aren't as "wide", nor as comfortable - but they are astoundingly precise and...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

nice heads up reading the specs i can't see it offers me anything over and above what the tone 1 delivers for my meagre needs currently and i am no fan of rgb bling (" RGB LED ring for status indication and feedback. ") - it's an annoying distraction although i appreciate that it is a simple...

if you have usb you might consider a khadas tone board my elars work fine without an amp using an rca to 1//8" female jack, direct from the pc via usb as signal and power i used mine 10 hours a day initially :D

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

despite best attempts, it seems i can't find any process that will revert to 1.04 the "new" sound is decidedly less wonderful - using either the wharfedale 10 speakers (10.1's + 10.gx sub) via a nad d3020 amp (previously gorgeous, now profoundly disappointing), or the focal elear headphones (as...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

several hours down the track and i'm not so keen on the changes the hit on transient treble such as rim shots and attack on guitar seem harsher and overwhelmed, whereas the bass seems to lack the same attack and sound muddy, but previously it was remarkably coherent the dynamic range for all...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

i saw the update, but there is no information on what it actually achieves is there a new interface to adjust the bit rates or frequency ? because my khadas already sounds fantastic with the "old" firmware, so more details would inspire me to do the flashing maybe, but sometime if it ain't...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

first i'd try a different usb port on the source if that's possible (that worked for me) if no joy, i would try a different cable, as that's a simple trouble shooting process and finally, allow windoze10 to update the driver, because allegedly that's better than the one supplied - and i'm not...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

sorry, i'm out of ideas the only further test is to see if it sends signal over the coaxial connection, when powered via the usb and then to try it on a different computer

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

mine is currently using the default windoze driver it's win home ver 1909, and the driver is listed as (2) XMOS XS1-U8 MFA if i remember correctly mine kept disconnecting, and i thought it was the usb, but maybe the update to generic driver for win 1909 "fixed" the problem - some people...

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

did you install the drivers ? as i noted, if you haven't reconnected and re-booted, it won't magically start to respond and have you tried another cable yet ? and is it the supplied cable ? it needs a data connection, not just a simple charging cable
  23. scruffy1

Khadas Tone Board DAC = WOW!

if this was previously working and then wasn't after a windoze update, you will need to unplug, and re-plug, and likely reboot the computer that'd be my first guess, or try another usb port (can't explain it, but it worked for me although i have blocked windoze auto updates)

    Budget DAC?

a record or tape... analogue is "infinite bit" isn't it ? that's why the purists love it
  25. scruffy1

    Budget DAC?

if you rip your own flac, the bit rate is on you but as i rip cd and the sample is 44.1, that's what i use - essentially cd quality (but much smaller files)
