Don't ask me how, but I went from looking for 6550s to suddenly having 3 pairs of them plus a spare. I can't really explain it. The NOS RCA 6550 made by Tung-Sol can be a great value. Folks prioritize the ones with the Tung-Sol name on them, but those are made in the same factory.- AnyDave

Well, I've been rolling a lot of tubes in my pre-production ZMF Aegis. Lately, I've been bouncing between GEC KT66 and Tung-Sol 6550s, which are both wonderful in their own ways.- AnyDave

My entire post had no purpose other than a lame Sword of Damocles joke (thus the project hanging over the head). Definitely not to be taken seriously by anyone.- AnyDave

Eric McChanson Headphone Amp??
If you know anybody with a laser engraver, this would look very good with a reverse-etched acrylic plate. Basically, you paint one-side of some clear acrylic, then flip the artwork and etch it backwards. Then you flip it around and install it. This adds visual depth and protects the paint...- AnyDave

Unfortunately, the Sylvanias I've tried were nowhere near the Amperex. The only other piece of advise I'd throw out there in regards to 7308s is that they are some of the more faked tubes I've come across, so it's helpful to go with a known seller if possible. Brent Jessie is a great...- AnyDave

The 7308s are rated for up to 10,000 hours. I have some backup tubes of other types, but it's possible that the tubes in there could last me another 50 years as I don't use my 2 channel setup as often as my headphone amps. Getters are usually referred to by shape. A halo getter is typically...- AnyDave

None of my headphone amps use 6DJ8/6922/7308 tubes, but my (now very old) BAT preamp in my 2-channel setup does. I generally preferred Amperex tubes in it. Those white label Holland 6DJ8s are plentiful, sound good, and can be had for reasonable prices. I would also keep an eye out for the...- AnyDave

Eric McChanson Headphone Amp??
I was lucky enough to snag a set of version 3 (top D getter and two D getters on the same side). Wonderful tubes. I have some of the three hole grey plate variants as well, which are very nice and much easier to find.- AnyDave

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Yeah, to be clear, I write sharpie on the ZMF bags specifically for the pads. I don't write on the pads themselves. Each pad has a dedicated bag and it goes back in it's own bag before the other pad comes out. I'm *mostly* good about keeping with that system.- AnyDave
