Buy "OSSIC X" or not?
The unknown for me with these headphones is how well they improve, if at all, immersion in VR when the source signal is stereo from a 3.5mm, not pre-processed by OSSIC's software. The problem is that I've read no reviews/testimonials of this particular use case. The current state of VR audio...- z_accoustics

Battlefield 3
Anyone figure out the native bit and sampling rate of the in-game mix? I'd like to set my windows setting to the same. Also, Home Cinema vs. Hi-fi vs. Headphone mode for use with good stereo headphones? Looking for best positional audio possible.- z_accoustics

How to optomize this setup? (XP-7/AVR/Computer) get a DAC?
Doesn't look too bad. I might go with that. Only negative I see is that it only has a 3.5mm line out instead of L/R RCAs, odd. I suppose the benchmark would be an upgrade but stereophile mag reported issues using USB with a powerbook and pc.- z_accoustics

How to optomize this setup? (XP-7/AVR/Computer) get a DAC?
So I have an XP-7 amp for my AKG K271, a computer with optical audio out and an Onkyo tx-sr876 AVR. How can I optimize this setup for listening to digital audio from my computer? Non optimal (but "working") setups 1) Plug amp into computer's analog out - this is not great because my...- z_accoustics

Best headphones for listening to Thom York?
Hey guys Any york fans out there? I hope so. I've been going to the local hifi store to audition headphones and home theatre speakers with the earser album. This may be a hard album to nail with a headphone because of the home made type of samples used and synthesized sound stage. I...- z_accoustics

AKG 240 cable repairable/replaceable?
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am not at home right now so i can't take a pic of the phones but it definetly does not have a detachable cable and it's at least 5 years old, so old and worn that the model number on the sides is not readable. I'll inspect them when i get home and post some... -
AKG 240 cable repairable/replaceable?
I have a AKG 240 which I really like but the chord is pretty messed up. I called a local shop and they said phone cables are too difficult to repair. I called AKG and no one returned my call. Is there someone around here who can do it or other suggestions on how to not call this a total loss...- z_accoustics

AKG Choices ([67]01, 1000), i wanted this to be easy
Quote: And... K1000 is something that you have to listen to to even imagine what they sound like, they're not even headphones hehe. loud speaker supreme? So I can rule out the "[67]01s dont need an amp" argument. So let's in fact just throw out any price argument in the sub $1,500...- z_accoustics

AKG Choices ([67]01, 1000), i wanted this to be easy
Quote: It's a pleasantly odd listening experience pleasantly odd... i'm not sure $1,000 is gonna be layed down from that testimony. One of the most used sources in my home is my computer, which has both an X-Fi platinum and an external EDIROL sound device with 1/4'' pre-amp'd outputs.- z_accoustics

AKG Choices ([67]01, 1000), i wanted this to be easy
Took a few hours reading through the threads but i'm ready to post now. I really liked my 240s (but the cord is cut now). I saw headroom's review of the 601 and 701s and figured that these were the two to decide between. I didn't care for the 701 color and liked the black of the 601s, so i...- z_accoustics
