Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
I'm planning on taking them home with me over Christmas vacation and doing the fuzzor mod. If that doesn't help, off to the Classifieds they go.- Jim85IROC

100% the sound. I find them to be perfectly comfortable, and it's not a physical type of fatigue, it's that "internal bleeding ears headache" type of discomfort.- Jim85IROC

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
It seems to depend on the listener. I don't hear the 5k ringing, but I do find these headphones to be very fatiguing for long listening periods. I bought them with the hopes of replacing my HD600s as my "all day" headphones at work, but I just can't take them for long, even though I love how...- Jim85IROC

I never said unplugging the headphones would stress me out. Please don't put words into my mouth. I don't like to plug and unplug something unnecessarily because it adds wear to the parts.- Jim85IROC

Yes, it has a muting relay. Unfortunately, when the relay closes, it creates a brutally loud "pop". I can hear it through the headphones when they're sitting on my desk.- Jim85IROC

Just because it has a tube in the signal path doesn't really change how a turn-on relay at the output would work other than the delay. It still shouldn't have a pop.- Jim85IROC

I just picked up a Vali 2 and a Modi to use at work. For the weekend I have them set up at home, and I just noticed that after I turned on the Vali, after 15 seconds or so, there's a lot pop in the headphones. I know that there's a delay in output while the tube warms up, but is the loud pop...- Jim85IROC

LG V40 ThinQ
I have no idea. When using the app, the "hi'fi quad dac" is enabled along with all of the sound options within the dac settings. Aside from having those available, how would I determine whether or not that DAC is being employed?- Jim85IROC

LG V40 ThinQ
"Music Folder Player Free" It's the same one I used on my old phone. It's simple, and it let's me get to my music via my folder structure, which is how I prefer it. I may experiment with other apps (I have another thread asking about what people prefer), but since I only have MP3s on my phone...- Jim85IROC

LG V40 ThinQ
Just got my V40 yesterday. So far, so good. I'm listening to Hotel California on my M1060s and the phone seems to do just fine with them. My HD600s also seem to do fine with it. The phone has more than enough output volume for those high impedance cans, and they seem to sound very good. I'm...- Jim85IROC

preferred music app for Android?
I just got a new LG V40 and I'm interested in seeing what music player would suit me best. On my Galaxy S5, I've used a player called "Music Folder Player Free" specifically because I don't want to deal with playlists and searching by artist, etc. I want to search for my music via the folder...- Jim85IROC

I'll definitely be trying the paper towel mod among others. Based on the frequency response charts and CSDs that I've seen, none of the mods seem to impact the ringing, but that doesn't mean that they won't help the sound.- Jim85IROC

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
My 1060s arrived yesterday. I tried them briefly last night connected to my phone via a Dragonfly. Right away I was impressed at the clarity and the full bass response, but the Dragonfly didn't have enough headroom to do the job. Today I brought them to work and played them on my Monoprice...- Jim85IROC

Worst recorded/Mastered Albums
The Guitar Hero rip is quite listenable. I wouldn't go so far as to say it sounds "good", mainly because of the awful equalization on the drums (a little too similar to the St. Anger drum sound for my tastes), but the guitars sound great, there's some dynamic range, and that awful digital... -
1MORE Piston in-ear headphones review
I'm hearing a definite lack of highs. That said, my other IEMs seem to have the same lack of highs, so it may be something to do with the shape of my ears. I get no lack of highs with over-ear headphones, but with my 2 pairs of IEMs, I seem to get virtually nothing above around 8khz.- Jim85IROC

1MORE Piston in-ear headphones review
The family resemblance between these and the Piston 3 headphones is very apparent. The shape of the overall housing is different, but the cabling, aside from the color, is identical, as is most of the packaging.
