I auditioned the Grace 901, and felt that as a package it was a good deal. I have not yet heard the m902. It may be that the sound provided by the m902 is just not your bag. You may even be a valve guy. I find it odd that the USB input would not sound the same as the coax/optical input. Perhaps...

Bare in mind AOS has performed modifications to the Flute. It is my understanding that although the Piccolo's DAC is nearly identical, the performance of the Flute's DAC is superior. Where the Flute really runs away from the pack is its headphone amplifier. Now that is impressive.

I was listening to a final version of the Flute at AOS' home yesterday, and needless to say I was blown away. What a phenomenal sounding product. The Flute is by some margin the best portable amplifier I have ever heard. Nevermind the excellent DAC! Enjoy this one guys! AOS has put alot of work...

I felt the K1000 worked fine directly from the DAC1. In fact, I felt it sounded quite good. I had it at ~1:00, and it was plenty loud, and dynamic. I have not personally tried the tri-path with the K1000s.

They were the crappy neutrik jacks. From now on, I'm only using N-locking and N-Combo jacks.
