Ain't no secret... for me it's definitely The Cure, by a long shot. The Cure is the one and only band that has stayed with me since the late 80's while everything else I loved either broke up (Ride, Suede), faded away (Starsailor), or became irrelevant (New Order).

I work in Student Affairs, Administration, and Leadership at a private New Jersey University. In a previous life, pre-Master's in Higher Education, I worked as an Architect.

First thing that comes to mind would be The Man Machine by Kraftwerk... a must have album, vocoder or otherwise. Might sound a bit dated these days but it's a classic album.   Another classic song comes to mind that features the vocoder is "O Superman" by performance artist Laurie...
