Er you realise that they both sound vastly different still? I can say that because I extensively listened to both and this clearly shows again how you can not just judge a graph with another, compare their prices alongside and then say "yeah in this case the HD 58X is better because its cheaper...

Alright, just to throw this in here after having the pleasure of listening to the 660S2's for weeks now, all I can say is wow. Finally after searching for such a long time it feels like the search has ended at least for a good while for now as these make me forget I'm wearing headphones - Or let...

Aw man now you're really hyping me! But honestly as well, no matter my age and hearing I really hope I'll always have the resources to try pretty much any headphone perhaps nothing too crazy over 1-2k$ but still. I feel rather privileged to have that option and now I'm even more excited to...

I'm also honestly very very guilty of entirely changing my mind in terms of what "taste of headphone" I may currently enjoy. But it's very important to know that this is still just that, a taste, my taste, not something of actual substance. Especially seeing how quickly my own opinions can shift...

Sorry to hear that - If you have Tinnitus as well, then I'm also sorry, I know how it feels as I've had it since I can think. It's thankfully so mild that I can ignore it most of the time (took me a long time learning to cope though) and I think my hearing is totally fine still. But to this day...

Thanks again. I hate myself a bit for giving in so easily to expensive purchases (but hey I'm young and live alone with just two cats), but I ordered the NDH 30 as well now. Love comfy headphones and if they offer a different but similar signature to the S2, hey that also sounds great...

That is quite the statement, can someone else confirm this too? Seems more like a subjective thing whether or not the drivers (and even sound) is "vastly superior" no offense but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Awesome, that's great to know thanks - I already own the 700 Pros from Beyerdynamic which are analytical enough, definitely not feeling the need to try the NDH 30, especially since it honestly looks a bit less comfy than the 660S2, weighing about 100g more too. Might overall perhaps not be that...

Pardon if this was covered before, but thus I reckon the NDH30 is simply more bright compared to the 660S2? Definitely not something I'd want, and up to now I believed the NDH30 basically sounds like a 600S2 with added sub-bass. But I guess it's not that simple again after all. :)

I was in the group of people who kind of "hated" the sound signature unfortunately. Although hate is a strong word, the sharp treble spike and lack of sub-bass + bass generally made me dislike them very much so without EQ. Sure, toning down perhaps just the treble OR boosting the bass is fine...

At times I honestly forget that I'm wearing a "6xx series" Sennheiser - Their sound feels so fresh and different enough from the 660S1 to make me rather happy. As others have said before, something about their dynamics, ability to portray the soundstage etc. Again, baffled how these small...

@kman1211 , mildly apples to oranges comparison perhaps (if comparisons in this thread are still allowed to anything else but the 6xx series ), but out of curiosity how would you compare the Beyerdynamics T1's in your profile picture to the 660S2?

I reckon it's not entirely a fair comparison since the Hifiman Deva's cost about 169$ for the wired version (usually including the Bluetooth dongle about 269$), yet it's still a great performing headphone with its huge planar magnetic drivers. Going from the 58xs to the Devas I could always hear...

Wish I would've had that when they bit through both the tiny outside cables on the Beyerdynamic 900 X PRO - Great headphones, if they wouldn't be broken, I would've probably not tried the S2 yet I'm glad I did so as even though they toned the treble peak down on this model, treble still sounds a...

Hope this isn't a silly question, but, do you feel the cable upgrade makes an audible difference compared to the default one? I've been eyeballing some clothed cables because I have cats as well and they love chewing them, something like you have would be ideal, but I'm not sure if I'm willing...

Listen to this ideally on Tidal or at least something like Spotify: I've always loved that track to benchmark headphones, and I'm pretty sure that the 660S2 actually presents the most natural and overall balanced signature of all the hp's I've tried so far - Now given this is mainly from...

I had something rather similar in mind, so I agree - Especially going from the 58x to the 660S2 IMO makes me appreciate the added separation and "3D-ness" of the music a lot. Never easy to put these things into words, but you detailed it rather well! It really can't be said often enough how...

Also as an example, buy a 1000$ smartphone basically each year and no one bats an eye, spend 600$ on a quality headphone for basically half your life and everyone goes insane. At least that's how family and friends treat me, lol. But they "can't hear a difference" anyway, they state.

Quick question, am I crazy or are the pads on the 660S2 a new model? They seem thicker and more dense, but maybe I've just worn in my 58x over the years? Would be great if someone knows, as I really like them and in the future I do not want to buy the previous model pads or such as a...

Not sure if you've tried them yourself but seeing @Rob80b recently post a picture of the HD 700 again made me have flashbacks of how comfortable they were, simply disappearing after a minute or so on the head. Absolutely unmatched I feel even by the 660, perhaps the 800 comes very close to that...

It's really been a while since I was last active here, and just using my Sennheiser 58x made me forget about buying new headphones entirely, as I was just satisfied with their sound after countless headphones I've tried prior in all price ranges over the years. Looking forward to some impressions! Feel free to play around with different types of paper (even stacking some thinner ones can work), it can really make a difference in treble presentation. Great fix for sharper songs, nice to have it in and out again so quickly. It just fits right in and...

Pro tip easily reverseable "mod" for everyone who finds the treble / highs too sharp: Simply cut or tear out a pice out of a toilet paper or kitchenrolle, put it in front of the driver inside the pads, that's it - Lows and Mids seem to be unaffected, perhaps there is an ever so slight reduction...
