Testing audiophile claims and myths
Hi... 99% of the 192kHz and 96kHz files from (supposedly HD) recordings (and I got a lot) are like this, you just have to check it.... it's astounding... I really don't notice any distortion, but I always convert them to 44.1/24 and then to mp3 to listen in the car or in my portable player...- MacacoDoSom

Testing audiophile claims and myths
I think my speakers don't reproduce very well those frequencies and I don't have a dog to try it, maybe I'll try it with the cat...- MacacoDoSom

Testing audiophile claims and myths
"ultrasonics are inaudible", I hope so because in this 'Audiophile' recording "John Coltrane - Alternate Takes - Giant Steps 192 kHz 24 bit" I can see this:- MacacoDoSom

Why 24 bit audio and anything over 48k is not only worthless, but bad for music.
First you should check if the problem comes from the speakers, try to listen to them very close something like 0.8 m to 1 m from your head to each speaker with 0.8 m to 1 m apart from each other (equilateral triangle) with no sub and medium/low volume. You should not have that problem, so the...- MacacoDoSom

Why 24 bit audio and anything over 48k is not only worthless, but bad for music.
It's not unbelievable, what I find unbelievable it's the 'audiophile' people that doesn't know about the so called pro market. Its a very good professional product...with a price not so high considering..., there are several other good products/alternatives (much cheaper ones) like that in the...- MacacoDoSom

one post to rule them all. unless it's invisible.
I think you are full of good intentions but... Usually when a guy comes with a basic question and is ignorant about the subject nobody will answer him (one or maybe two will try) and instead of answers he'll get some jokes, end of post... But, if a guy comes with claims about something (he...- MacacoDoSom

I think you're maybe right, but... can you define 'a high end active monitor setup' ?- MacacoDoSom

Well I have them somewhere ( I'll try to look into it), but they're not good, actually I'm spending a lot more in building a new ( still building it) dedicated room so I can customize it the best I can, (the dimensions and shape not being ideal are the best possible with the space available)...- MacacoDoSom

Why would I want to virtualize my space/setup? I already have it and I would rather spend $3000 to get it better... Please! don't talk about R2R DACs, I'm still having nightmares from reading the other post... (I wonder what kind of DAC is inside of it? and I heard that DSPs are evil...)- MacacoDoSom

Can' make any comments as I have not listened to it... but... if it is as good as it says, near $3000 its a bit overpriced for some software in a box and little hardware and in no time every smartphone will have it... Is there any recording studio/engineer using it?- MacacoDoSom

Ok I see, thank you for your explanation on the 1kHz... but just the plots... About the headphones software, it should be nice to try it for fun (somewhat expensive for fun though) but I just use headphones to listen on the go or to check the stereo image, because I want my mixes to sound...- MacacoDoSom

Very good point... I usually don't listen to (or have) punk recordings... My problem is that I'm making my own recordings/mixing and I want them to translate well enough in other systems. That's a good idea but... its not practical to do... When I try to listen to speakers I have 3 options, 1) Go to an 'audiophile' house and listen to is 'syrupy ant-ridden audiophile honey-flavored snake oil' and most of the time I don't like it much. 2) Go to a 'good' hi-fi store, and...- MacacoDoSom

Has anybody had this experience? let's say.. Two different but very good state of the art audio setups and rooms, I will call them Setup A and Setup B.
