    Audiophile iOS audio player

No, I'm really asking, how do I hook it up? If I have a 30-pin or lightning connector, how do I get it to optical, coax, or USB A-B?   I have an adapter from my ipod that goes to RCA, but not any of these type of connectors.

So, in order for me to connect either of my iPod to this DAC, I would need the camera kit shown by bigfullz and then the USB A-B type cable?   How much is lost in cables by going this route?  I really don't care to have a PC for an input to play my music, too much crap to deal with.

Yes!  I guess I still don't understand why one needs a camera kit to get audio from the lightning port, but that is an issue I have with apple it seems... Does it have to use the onkyo app?  Or does anything play this way? And from Detroit, where are you located?  You can PM...I am local to...

That's what I'm trying to understand from you.  How do you get audio on the lightning connector?

You can over ride the DAC with lightning connector?  My iphone 5 does not have any audio signal output on the Lightning connector.  How do you get audio out on Lightning connector?

1, ok so connect at headphone jack, not 30 pin.   2, I understand amp/dac don't have anything to do with the playing of FLAC files.    What I'm asking is, couldn't you play through the 30-pin line out instead of the headphone jack which is powered?   My understanding of the goal here is to...

Playing through the headphone out though still correct?  So how does that bypass the internal DAC of the apple device? (iphone/ipod) Regarding playing FLAC on the newer items that don't support audio on the lightning connector.   If you then have to add amp/DAC you're just trying to correct...

    External DAC for iPod

I’m not sure where to post this for what may be a good answer. I’ve been curious about a DAC and how they work for a while. Have also asked question and read a lot here. Just about all music I play on my setup comes from an iPod, either my newly revamped mini with Rockbox, or the standard 4th...

    How to add another category?

I get an email daily or so about subscription updates.  This has a start in a category of Desktop Amps.  I don't really have any interest in desktop amps, but I do have in personal players like my ipod thread. I'd like to get more info on personal players and mods we can do to them vs. Desktop...

    How to add another category?

I've been on here for a little bit and learning some things. Now what I would like to do is add a category to my daily listing. When I originally signed up, I chose 2 of these since I wasn't sure what I was doing. However, now I would like to add something since that is where my interest is...

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

Doesn't iTunes also play off the memory card? Why would battery life be different between iTunes and Rockbox?

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

It last longer overall.  When playing I had it running for about 13 hours the other day, just letting it play to see how long it would last.  This was on itunes mode though.  I did a comparison with it in rockbox mode and last about 7hours or so, I haven't got a good rockbox mode comparison...

iPod Mini w/ Rockbox, how to enable?

I'm having a tough time keeping my mini in the "Rockbox" mode. I've had this installed for a few months now tinkering with it. Seems like it will always default to iTunes mode when I power on. Then I have to monkey with it for a while to get it to boot into Rockbox. Am I right by holding...

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

ifixit.com   Although I've noticed since I swap the battery, the mini seems to reboot when set in the RockBox mode.  Battery doesn't last as long in RockBox mode either.

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

I agree, that is pretty sweet if your 256 works.  Since I was ordering a new battery for my iPhone, I also got one for my mini, replaced yesterday and charged, ran it almost 18 hours and still going.  My older battery would got for about 1 hour.  This is getting to be a pretty cool revival for...

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

Didn't someone here also recommend a replacement battery to get rather than just a ebay China jobbie? Mine is working good for playing, although battery is probably crap now too.  Besides it doesn't like the cold.

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

Ok, so, I went ahead and tried this out today. It really was not very difficult at all, also pretty excited to actually put it to use. What I did notice is, now when I copy files to it, they take a long time! I selected maybe 100 songs to copy over, seemed like it too about 2 hrs +/-...

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

I found 64G Lexar SDXC card for $25 tonight, marked half off.  They didn't have any 128's.... My next task is to find the card adapter deal.  I have read a handful of posts that say these card adapters are flaky. I'm not really wanting to have to keep taking the ipod apart for hokey issues. ...

Ok, thanks for the reason on why to use SD card. Is 128 the largest that will work with these older iPods? That has been tried anyways?

    My 32GB Flash IPod Mini

I really want to try this out.  I've had this ipod since 2005, still works fine.  I replaced battery a while back, but then it just sat for years.  Discovering rockbox gave me new options and brought it back to being something useful.  Now that I can play FLAC on it, I am limited by the 4G...
