For the IER-Z1R, I can't comment about the 320MAXTi but I definitely prefer Blondie with DSEE Ultimate over the DX320X with Amp 14. The tonality over most genres, bass quality and depth is a step up for me.. YMMV.

Honestly, if you don't need the power to drive big headphones, then the 1AM2, 1ZM2 sounds the best to me. And if you got an AM2, I think there is minimal difference to ZM2.. like you need to A/B it just to hear the difference.. I would just keep enjoying 1AM2 and carry on :smile: Side update...

I don’t recommend 1ZM2/1AM2 to power full sized headphones, especially on 3.5mm. My 600Ohm Beyerdynamic T1 1st Gen sounds quietly soft so I don’t even bother. If you look at MDR-Z1R meant for these players, the impedance is 64Ohm. Anything more than, say 100 Ohm probably will not be optimally...

I agree with you - Amp14 is overall a better all-rounder card than Amp 13.. It brings a really clean sound and I rarely hear the quirks of the tube amp. Amp13 on the other hand brings quite sweet female vocals for acoustic tracks and I do hear the bass having a slower, more organic decay...

Yeah consensus on DX320 is the stock amp 11mk2 is good but doesn't bring the best out of it.. Once I got the Amp14, 11mk2 stayed in the box. Good point on reformatting the file system; read a few pages back that Micron is good before going allout for Swissbit.. so will probably need to get one...

Still early to say.. have not A/B properly but I can say I like the Sony sound sig on the IER! For lack of better words, listening to Goldie on my bed now, it sounds grander overall, sound stage seems to be deeper and due to lower noise floor, soft sounds can be heard on a very black background...
