Polk Floorstanding Speaker 8T..is there only one model, or multiple variations?
So, I got these for $50. I entered the additional number on the back, and havent gotten anything back besides RTA 8T when I googled them. I saw a few for sale for $300-400. How long are they expected to last?- Critical50

Can an old reciever have a really bad effect on audio?
I bought a Sony Reciever STR-K790 and two Bose speakers for $70. I know Bose isnt really all that highly praised for audiophiles, but I figured for $70 its not a bad deal. I played music through them, and the vocals were terribly drowned out. The guitars, bass, and drums were way louder. With...- Critical50

Replacement cable for HD558/ audio technica M40
I say both of them because they both share the same lock in pattern, for those who dont know. The cord they both came with werent good. I tried to order a new one directly from Sennheiser, and they didnt work too well. I ordered a 3rd party one, and it worked fine for about a year. (I couldnt...- Critical50

Confused on AMPs, DACs, soundcards, etc.
I bought a Soundcard by Creative. Its the Soundblaster Z 5.1. The specs say 600 ohm amp. Before I was looking at external DACs, and then saw dedicated Amps. Then saw the DACs have amps in them. Yet I still saw people saying they have a DAC + dedicated Amp. So Im wondering, is the 600 ohm amp...- Critical50

Using an AV reciever with my PC?
If Im watching a show, or movie, I dont mind getting up every once in a while to pause/play, etc. Not that lazy. If Im using my monitor I have a desk and office chair. When using my widescreen, I will have a couch directly behind my desk. The TV will be right above my desk. I currently have a...- Critical50

Using an AV reciever with my PC?
Uh..I was asking about AV recievers.. I do plan on putting a widescreen in there but most of the time if Im using that screen its for movies, shows, etc. Hardly ever for gaming. My monitor will be used for gaming, mostly. I have studio headphones anyways, that have a cable longer than I care...- Critical50

Using an AV reciever with my PC?
Oh. For some reason I thought a reciever is an alternative or better option to having a soundcard. If I want to setup a surround sound system, would I need one?- Critical50

Using an AV reciever with my PC?
Ive never heard of anyone using them with PCs, I only see suggestions for soundcards. I have a spare room Im converting into a little theater/video game room. Right now I have a Creative soundcard, but AV reciever seems like a better choice.- Critical50

Which is better for achieving surround sound with speakers?
I also kinda figured that my Z533 speakers are way more powerful than the ones I had laying around. Pretty sure I found them online, for $20. So yeah I know this really isnt an accurate representation of buying 2 sets of speakers, but just curious.- Critical50

Which is better for achieving surround sound with speakers?
I have this Logitech Z533 I bought for $100. Its a 2.1. I found out some people just buy speakers later for the rear outputs. So I had these alright sounding 2.0 Logitech speakers laying around, grabbed them and set them up behind me. One channel was considerably weaker than the other channel...- Critical50

Headphones for working out?
And most high quality headphones I look at by companies like Sennheiser, Audio Technicha, Shure, Beyerdynamic, AKG, make headphones designed for studio use. Or DJing. Unless those would maybe work? I try searching headphones for working out and get a lot of Beats or Skullcandy so like..- Critical50

Headphones for working out?
Ive been using my Audio Technicha M40s but..they werent designed for working out with of course. Earpads get incredibly smelly. I'd buy earphones but they never really give me that noise cancelling like headphones do. And everytime I use earphones for working out..I get this weird noise from...- Critical50

Wanting to get a soundcard to get 5.1 or 7.1 for my headphones..
I play a lot of first person games. I was looking at Creative's cards, the model you recommend is a little bit pricey. I'll consider it but, what about the X-fi 5.1 surround pro?- Critical50

Wanting to get a soundcard to get 5.1 or 7.1 for my headphones..
What Ive heard Internal soundcards are often worse, because they pick up a lot of noise from the inside and transfers it to my headphones. Open back are the best for surround sound. I have a pair of HD 558s to use. But Im looking at all these soundcards, some dont say the channels they have...- Critical50

In need of new speakers..budget:$100-150.
I kinda got impatient and got a logitech. $100 speakers, huge subwoofer and has a convenient dial knob thing to put on my desk. Lets me put my phone in through an aux and it blends with my PC audio. They look really nice as well. Logitech Z533 Audio is nice as well. Thank you though.- Critical50
