@Lucas Taboada: McEar just told me the Dreve Fotoplast is allowed to be shipped by plane and sent me the safety datasheet.

    CustomArt FIBAE Impressions Thread

Finally got a Fibae 3 Custom in my hands for doing some measurements: And here's how it compares to the universal shell demo unit: As expected the ~8 kHz peaks moves to higher frequencies due to deeper insertion. Overall the demo unit will represent the custom sound quite well I think.

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)

Actually the residual, absolute noise level will be higher when going balanced. That's because doubling the components doubles the noise. The signal will be doubled too, but doubling noise means +3 dB and doubling sinal means +6 dB. So the maximum signal to noise ration becomes 3 dB better -...

How will balanced lower the noise floor - don't you mean it will increase the signal to noise ratio?

Any success yet? Did Ethan send you some measurements?

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

That's actually a pretty old topic and has been discussed and researched for decades now. That coupler would be pretty bad then, wouldn't it? A good standard coupler represents the average human ear below 10 kHz or even above, if go for the new (not so cheap) GRAS. That being said, not...

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

I honestly don't think it's worth the extra work. The information that is most relevant is what FR the IEM delivers to an average ear - that includes resonant peaks from the closed ear entrance as well as the effects of different insertion depths. Knowing if certain aspects of the FR are due to...

    Home-Made IEMs

Thanks! Yes, took a cheap KZ IEM as a starting point to create my own positive dummy shell. Crossover, tuning etc is all self-made. Also made the cable

Can someone point me to frequency response measurements of the EE lineup? I know @crinacle 's Dayton measurements, but looking for more accurate ones. Maybe even official graphs @Jack Vang?

I too am curious about Fotosil and Klarsil. I'd like to make a more persistent negative mold that can be reused several times. Does anyone have experience with this?

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

As @crinacle already explained the file is for free field calibration. Though it's useful to start with a mic that already has flat free filed response. So you might want to start with the provided file for your own calibration.

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

The "microphone calibration" dialogue seems promising. I suggest to find out the best tube length first. If the peaks align, you should try to write a simple calibration file. Likely your measurements will show a roll off at high frequencies that should be calibrated with such a file. For...

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

Definitely the new setup. It's IEC compliant. The most important thing is that the frequencies of the resonance peaks align. You can move the peaks by changing the dimensions of your rig's tube. It isn't simple. You'd need to know your mic's sensitivity and so on. Though if you have got a...

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

The cable's impedance causes the same effect as the output impedance. So cables can make an audible difference, if the IEM has a low and varying impedance. I recently measured some effects with the W80: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-westone-w-series.683099/page-79#post-14031322 Also...

It was measured without ear canal extension and retaining collar directly at the reference plane (c): Would be easier if you just post your measurement of the custom, than me trying to emulate a custom fit. I guess I ruined your plans not to spoil reviews already (sorry  ).

Redid the measurement with the included double flanges (blue curve) and without tips with the nozzle placed at the reference plane (red curve). The yellow curve is the single flange measurement from above. Both channels averaged and curves aligned @ 1 kHz.

    CustomArt FIBAE Impressions Thread

Yes, it were the single flange you included with the demo unit. I think those are Sony Hybrids? I used the small orange ones. Also I did use SpinFits which leads to a similar result. I can try those double flanges you included, if that would lead to a more accurate representation of the custom.
