I really like these the more and more I listen to them.  I don't usually believe in burn-in but the X00 have improved in the bass and soundstage in the time I've listened to them. Obligatory terrible picture below.  

They aren't as wide (it takes a bit of work to fit it onto the X00), but they're "fatter" (thicker) than the stock X00 pads.

Library would probably be okay if you have a desk to yourself and are listening at reasonable volumes.  It's hard for me to really say as I'm mainly guess-timating the isolation, I need to grab my little brother and see how much sound leaks when he listens to these.

Isolation is way better with the Alpha pads.  With the stock pads, I would not recommend taking these to work unless you have ~15 feet distance from your neighbors (or an office).  With the Alpha pads, you'll look a bit more ridiculous but then it's reasonable leakage for public environments.  

  The "equal mids" was more in response to the musicality/enjoyment I found in the mids.  The X00 are definitely recessed, and the MD forward, but that's more of a presentation comparison rather than the actual "quality" of mids (which I personally enjoy on both the X00 and MD).  

This one is tough.     HD650 is stock, Ether is stock, X00 has Alpha pads:   Lows/Bass: Ether has good lows, always an appropriate amount that the track calls for.  HD650 is a bit tame on the bass (not quite as aggressive in the initial impact) but the quantity is there and lends to the warm...

Compared to the AP: AP has better mids (I've added some dampeners to mine from the "doggie treats" package and this tamed the highs/mids a bit).  X00 has better bass (even though I like the planar bass texture on the AP and the AP is by no means lacking on this front).  Highs are a toss-up, X00...

This is almost exactly how I would describe the Ether (they are foot-tapping, "get out of the way" headphones). Hopefully we get a full review from you soon!   And my Ether shirt Size S fits perfectly (just like the Ether).
