    MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread

Unfortunately, I only heard the Ether with the micro iDSD, but I just got a Chord Mojo to use with my LCD-X, and it's quite the significant upgrade over the iDSD in my humble opinion....

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay so, I'm stunned. I've listened for the Mojo for all of 30min and I cannot believe what I'm hearing. Song after song, the detail improvement is substantial! And where is the fatigue? I'm listening to parts of songs that normally hurt my ears and caused fatigue and now it's...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

With the micro iDSD you had to make sure that the iDSD was on before you plugged your phone into it, otherwise it would try and use the phone battery to charge itself and often it would cause the music to be intermittent, that's one benefit of two usb inputs, one for power and one for data! I'm...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

You know another thing I find interesting, is since I sold my micro iDSD, I've been stuck listening with a Fiio X3 first gen, and I find my ears are wayyyyy more fatigued than they were with the iDSD. And yet, the iDSD had more detail AND I could listen at higher volumes with far less fatigue...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

Good post! I enjoyed reading it. I actually relate in some ways, I don't know how audiophile-esque I am either, so I'm anxious to hear it and see what my conclusions are. One thing is for sure, I do not like the HD800.. I appreciate it, but I don't like it. You might try and audition an Audeze...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

When I read about the amount of work and technology that's gone into the Mojo, and the amount of praise it's received from so many on Head-Fi, it's kind of gut-wrenching to even think it could be possible for someone not to appreciate a significant difference in sound quality, whether he be an...

    MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread

Forgive me, completely slipped my mind!  I was using the iFi Micro iDSD, plugged in using Apple's CCK into an iPhone 5.  Cables were stock for the Audeze, and the DUM cable for the Ether. I compared many times during my trial period, but the day before I returned the Ether I listened for...

    MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread

Time to report back on my findings between the LCD-X and Ether 1.1.   First, I must say I believe both of these headphones are quite impressive, and I could highly recommend both of them. Onto the differences and pros and cons:   LCD-X: It's interesting, because I believe the way the Ether...

    Audeze LCD-X

Question.. I was listening to some car sound videos on YouTube through my LCD-X playing off my phone, and a lot of videos have extreme variances in volume, and it can sound fairly loud(even if my phone volume is only at half). Should I be cautious with that? I've read some things about amps...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

Didn't want to have to skim through all the pages of this thread, but quick question! Does the Mojo have any issues with channel balance at lower volume? And is the volume suited for IEM's and easy to drive headphones?   I'm selling my Micro iDSD because in order for the channels to be...

    Electrostatic Headphones

Helpful info! But I should've been clearer in my original post, the question I intended to ask is, is it possible to get into a good electrostatic setup for less than $3000? Currently I have an LCD-X and and iFi Micro iDSD, and was debating whether I should jump ship from planar to electrostats.

    Electrostatic Headphones

I've always overlooked electrostats as an option for me because I've read the cost of amps and such is ridiculous. Is there a relatively cheap way to get into them? (Less than $3000)

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

I just returned my Ether open a few days ago, it was a little too bright for me(I found it slightly fatiguing, I have somewhat sensitive ears). How would you compare the L700 to the Ether as far as sound signature goes?

    MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread

I would say it's the most balanced headphone I've heard since I got the 1.1 foam in. Before it was bright to me, but now it sounds very, very pleasant. Definitely shows a poor recording still though. But based on my ears, it sounds more balanced than my HD650, LCD-X and my previously owned HD800.

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

I agree. I admire it because it's functional. I carried it through the airport with absolutely no worries. The Ether case is pretty nice though, but I would be glad if Dan offered a pelican case option as well. Just a thought!

So after more than a year, I bought another LCD-X so I could directly compare with the Ether, and HD650. I still haven't gotten a tracking number for the 1.1 foam though, so unfortunately I haven't able to test that out yet... I'm anxious to try it too because as of right now, I'm preferring...

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

Just want to chime in here and say speakers actually can be neutral. By nature of the way they are measured relative to the way we hear, and with room correction you can measure to verify. Still though, a flat frequency response still might not sound very good to one person compared to another...

    K10U Black & Rose Gold

I'm not into IEM's, but if I were... Don't get me wrong $250 is wee-bit steep, but I mean, it's a limited edition. Not that you'll see your average joe out and about with the normal K10U, but hey... If they had a limited edition rose gold HE-1000 or LCD-X, I betcha people would shell out some...

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

I use the micro iDSD with my Ether O, and really appreciate the "X-Bass" option. Helps the bottom end IMO. I know the Ether C has a bit more bottom end as it is though.

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

Hey guys! This may be a really stupid question, but it crossed my mind so... When burning in headphones, is it at all a problem if the drivers are facing each other with a slight seal from the clamping force of the headband? Should I orient the drivers so they're less directly firing into the...
