what I feel for a open headphone is that turn your iphone volume to max with the earbud on and leave it on the desk, that would be similar to what they heard

Save up that $90 and get a good DAC (e.g. Resonessence Labs Herus) , JDS is not quite famous for their DAC

When it started to get into the $500 range, the difference is not that much. For example the price range for headphone that is from $500-$1500 the difference is ~25%, you are probably not going to notice it in game either. So save up those money and get a better gaming accessory

DT990 don't only extend on the bass, but also the treble, that is why some people called it "V-sound signature" or "recess mid"

lol I wont consider DT880 nor DT990 as "high-end"   I would consider that as Mid-Fi more than High-Fi because there is a long way to go (giving you courage to spent more $$$ on the headphone if you spent more than 90% of the day listening to the music)   Get a Stax/Abyss/HD800/ T1/...

Neutral - people who like to listen to how the music/ song suppose to be Warm - mid bass heavier, suitable for people who tend (but not completely) to be bass head or pop kind of music V shape - more extended on treble and bass, some people call it recess mid too
