HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

Haven't heard the 598, but I can tell you the HD600 is the not the ideal headphone for those genres. The HD600 doesn't do very well with music that has too much compression, like metal, newer rock and pop.

So I recently ordered a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's... (cue sadness)

First piece of advice is stop equating cost to sound quality. They do not go hand in hand, especially in the under $300 range.

    The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread

I can't listen to my 580 with the 580 grills. Sounds congested and muddy in the mid-bass after using the 600 grills for a couple years.   Quote:

Schiit Modi and Magni comparison to Bifrost and Asgard

Just returned an A2 and picked up an M/M after reading your review. My combo came with some real flexible PYST cables. Looks to be a thinner cable than yours. I didn't do a direct comparison, but the A2 was more spacious sounding, but more laid back in the highs. The M/M was just what I was...

Will the Grado 225i's benefit from a headphone amp?

In my experience with the 225, I didn't find amping changed the sound a whole lot. The 225 is not known for low end. When I had mine, I just flipped the bowls around so the flat part of the pad was on my ears and it gave a nice 2-3db boost in the lows.

Should I be looking at the Sennheiser HD600? Headphone recommendations.

I just sent an Asgard 2 back. I was using it with my HD580 (600 equivalent) and it was a great amp except the treble region. The A2 smoothed out the treble and took the bite off of it. It was the first time my 580 sounded kind of boring. The bass, mids and soundstage were great though.

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

Now that I have had some time with my A2, I'm just not feelin' the mids. They lack detail and are pretty laid back and this is with mid-centric headphones. I couldn't imagine listening to Beyers with this amp. Just not my cup of tea. Too bad because the bass, highs, separation and soundstage are...

Same old Schiit? Um, no. Welcome to Asgard 2!

Maybe everyone can copy and paste their reviews / impressions into the Asgard 2 thread. It just doesn't make much sense to have them here.

Same old Schiit? Um, no. Welcome to Asgard 2!

Hey guys, don't you think reviews and impressions would be better served in the Asgard 2 thread versus this announcement thread? This thread is going to make it harder for those in the future to find info on this amp as most people will be looking in the full size amplifier forum. Just a thought.

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

Straight from Schiit.com   Additional Versatility: From IEMs to Orthos to Active Monitors Asgard 2 offers two gain settings. The low-gain mode is perfect for high-sensitivity IEMs, while the high-gain mode is ideal for most other headphones, up to and including many orthodynamics.   I...

Silent. In case anyone is wondering. 125 degrees inside the case. 110 on the case top. Volume knob is 116 degrees. Wear your silicon mittens while adjusting the volume.

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

Not a great pic, but you get the idea of the size. Sounding pretty good so far. Not sure how I feel about the bass yet. It's fast, yet full, but rounded if that makes sense. Maybe a hair laid back in the mids. Soundstage is nice! This is all in comparison to my DIY tube hybrid amp. Going to let...

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

Maybe some went out on the 15th, but I think someone would have said something by now. You would think we would have had an update from Jason, but I don't expect great audio engineers to provide great customer service  You can't be great at everything.

Bottlehead Crack vs Woo Audio WA6

Not the WA6, but the WA3. Then it's probably easier to find 3 vs 6 and make some assumptions.   http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/marvelously-addictive-bottlehead-crack-page-2

Anyone compare Beyer DT250 250ohm to Sony CD900st?

Maybe just tell us what type of sound you are looking for and then people can tell if the Sony or beyer have those qualities.

    The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

I'm using them with a DIY tube hybrid amp and older DAC. I found a good tube that provides more top end, so that solved that issue. I have large ears and its takes a few minutes of positioning to get them comfortable, but then they mostly disappear. I need to make a straight cable because the...

    The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

Okay, got my DT250-250 and I am absolutely blown away. I honestly didn't think this type of sound was available in closed cans. The treble is a little more rolled off than would be ideal for me, but that is really nitpicking. The bass is excellent. Goes deep and is very tight, but still provides...

    A headphone shoot-out from a speaker listener - Testing eleven headphones from £ 80 to £ 1,200

Nice to see all these phones reviewed. Your assessment of build quality seems to be harsh and ergonomics, while a personal issue, doesn't seem inline with the masses.

HD598 vs HD600 vs HD 650 in terms of hiphop/rap.

TMRaven, why recommend something boomy? Pileman, last time I listened, hip hip contains music. It even has vocals too! I hate when people write off hip hop like that. Just because you don't listen to or like a genre, don't recommend boomy bass or a low budget pair of phones. Hip hop is a very...

Headphones with "n" shaped response curve with good soundstage
