    Jamo E 680 Speakers...Any good?

Personally, as you live in Canada, I would suggest checking canuckaudiomart.com to look for some used speakers. The people in the forums seem to be pretty biased much of the time, but it makes sense to buy from other people in Canada. I know there are a few good speaker stores on the island...

Has anyone heard these $16,000 speakers?

I haven't heard any higher quality B&O speakers, but from what I have heard in that price range (and what I have read about B&O), I think you could do much better for the money. I'm not trying to say anything bad about these or the people who like them, but this is just my assumption...

Battle of the Under $80 Headphones

I will also say try the SR60. For me, I liked the sound of the SR60 better, and they come with better pads (flat). I notice a big difference with the upper level Grado headphones, but between those two, I think the SR60 is better. However, try to listen to a few different headphones before you buy.

Yet another mp3 player thread (now with pre-concieved notions!)

And a good choice you have made. When I need to buy a new player, that's probably the direction I will go as well. After having to put up with iRiver customer service and having several players fail, I don't think I would go back to them again. And iPods...well, they aren't bad, but they're just...

    The "mod your Zhalou" Thread

Quote: That is the best way to mod.Take it slow. I think that's the best advice I have heard so far. It is very easy to get caught up all in the modding, and forgetting what the real purpose of this is. I am one of the people mentioned earlier who is new to this, but I decided now...

    Ebay scams seem more common!

Even as a buyer eBay is becoming VERY dangerous. I've had so many problems with items I've bought there that I refuse to use it anymore. I don't even trust feedback from there anymore, because people are just starting to threaten others if they don't leave a positive for them. Really have to...

Rant against Hell's Kitchen on Fox

I find that he appears very fake on TV...can't comment on what he's like in every day life though. And FWIW, I'll definitely agree that an apprenticeship is better than a new restaurant for a relatively new chef.

    Shipping to Canada?

It all depends how it was declared. I believe that all items marked as a gift with a value less than $80 are tax and duty free, as well as 'other' items with a value less than $20. If the value is more than this, there will be a $5 Canada Post 'handling fee' (USPS only, other carriers REALLY rip...

    Another vancouver meet?

I'm in during the summer as long as I can make the time for it. I may be selling some gear soon to upgrade, but quality over quantity is definitely most important, right? I'll keep watching this thread...just let me know if there are any specifics not covered here.

yet another audio lossless format, Windows Media Audio Lossless.

Quote: wma lossless may be better then flac but wavpack is still king. I'll certainly agree with you there I tried WMA lossless and found it to be very comparable to FLAC, but wavpack definitely has a slight advantage over both.

How to properly use a DAC

Yay, I got a real pen!

I think any good pen is a worthwhile investment. This way, you're forced to take care of it, and probably end up saving money from no longer having to replace cheap pens all the time. I've had three Cross pens and a Quill, all of which have stayed with me for more than five years. May be...

    Just how random is “shuffle”?

I don't know about the Zen, but I know the H1xx series with stock firmware isn't. Rockbox fixed this, but iRiver's shuffle was a semi-shuffle that would follow certain paths depending on the song the shuffle started it and how it was accessed or something. Maybe Creative has the same thing...

Marantz cc65se CD player, any good?

I haven't used that one specifically, but I remember a friend having a similar one a few years ago. It was decent, but not exactly memorable. It would probably be a pretty good choice if you were looking for a basic multi-disk CD player, but this type of Marantz stuff seems to fluctuate in value...

    I pod and lossless ??

Quote: If there are not errors on the CD the iTunes will do as good a job as EAC. Make SURE you do check the box in iTunes that turns on what error correction it does have (which still isn't as robust as EAC). But I still think that for this gentleman iTunes and Apple Lossless are the...

How worth it is it to rip my music at better rates?

128 kbps is pushing it a little bit...I find there's a difference between 128 and 192, but after this it improves minimally on a portable setup. There really isn't a need to go lossless, but you may want to consider going a bit higher if you don't have TOO much. Then again, if you're happy with...

I haven't tried those before, but I would definitely back up all the recommendations to use Blue Jeans Cables on these boards. I also live in Canada and I've never had any problems with anything they've sent me. Very reasonable shipping price too (unlike most places). Give it a try...you'll...
