Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Does anybody know if this the only place to source replacement filters? https://www.audiosanctuary.co.uk/shure-replacement-se846-filters-blue-black-white-red.html#product_tab_16 Can't find them on the Shure website. For some weird reason my blue filters have stopped working (sound is...- bintol

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Hi, My Shure 846s don't seem to have the red line on the nozzle interface to know where to insert the nozzle when replacing filters (minute 1:04 in this video: ). Not sure if it has worn away in time. Has anybody else had this problem? Makes it difficult to know whether I am inserting the...- bintol

@ChijiroKuro , can I ask whether you went for the small or the large option with your RS-2e's? I'm thinking of doing the same, particularly with a view to increasing the bass. Thank you.- bintol

What is the TrishD mod? Is that the mod of taking the foam out of the filters?- bintol

Great review. Wonderful headphones. I'm favouring them with the G-cush pads at the moment, but, as you say, it's easy enough to go back and forth between the G-cush and L-cush pads depending on the type of music you're listening to.- bintol

Thank you for your review. I entirely agree - the RS2e with the G-cush pads works beautifully. A smooth, beautiful sound. Non-fatiguing, but with sufficient detail.- bintol

I can understand the removal of this hiss, but I'm surprised it influences the sound so much (more natural). Can I ask what sort of headphones you're using? Tempted to give it a go.- bintol

Thanks for this. The iDefender3 looks interesting for use with the Hugo. Are you talking about a Hugo 1 or 2? Thanks.- bintol

No, I haven't - would be curious to know if others have a similar issue. My curious cable likes to be very straight and with no movement - then it seems to be fine. However, if it is a bit bent or gets knocked (as is often the case in my set up), my Chord Hugo isn't recognised by the computer...- bintol

The curious cable is very good but I find it very sensitive in the sense that sometimes the Hugo recognises it and sometimes it doesn't! This can get very frustrating after a while.- bintol

IEMs and wax build-up in ear canal
Once every 6 months – that’s quite a frequent ear canal clean! I might get into a bit of a schedule of it myself, judging by how much build up was removed and the impact on my hearing. Might also reduce IEM use and use headphones more frequently instead. Earplugs to muffle sound apparently also...- bintol

Focal Spirit One S
I’m currently pairing these with the Chord Hugo (original version, not Hugo 2) and it’s working very well – beautiful clear and detailed treble, bass well defined, not overly bloated, lots of energy and dynamism to the sound. An enjoyable immersive listen…- bintol

IEMs and wax build-up in ear canal
Hi all, I’ve been using Shure IEM 535s and 846s for some time now (5 years or so) and loving them, particularly the 846s. A doctor recently looked into my ear canal and noticed quite a build-up of wax, which she proceeded to remove with some sort of long ear canal insertion device. I don’t...- bintol

Hi everybody, I'm very happy using an optical cable with my Chord Hugo. However, I keep losing those little protective caps that sit on the end of optical cables! Does anybody happen to know where you can buy replacements? Struggling to find them on eBay. Any links appreciated. Many thanks.- bintol

Have been using the Wireworld Super Nova 7 optical cable with the Chord Hugo for few days now. Very very impressed. Certainly an improvement over the stock cable. Doesn't 'click in' all the way but goes in far enough to have a solid hold. Seems to provide a greater clarity and body to the sound...- bintol

Agree with you - I don't think the full 'click' is required to get the benefit of a good quality optical cable - as long as it stays in place and the connection isn't broken.- bintol

Hi, I'm considering investing in the Wireworld Super Nova 7 optical cable for Chord Hugo. I see you have some positive things to say about it. Does it still impress you over the longer term? Have the fit (lack of 'click') issues with the Chord Hugo been a problem? Thanks.- bintol
