A critical review of MHZS Tube CD Players

Regal: So sorry for the implication. I was not saying or implying that YOU had a problem with the Chinese, just that this "Lampizato" does. The high end Pioneer players also use the PCM1743 DAC - FYI - and again, if you have never heard a $.15 TDA1543, then I encourage you to give this a...

A critical review of MHZS Tube CD Players

Have you ever "heard" a MHZS product? And please do not mention the PCM1743KE as this chip, like the other *cheap* Phillips TDA1543 are also very find sounding chips. He sounds very angry and for some reason, against the Chinese. Perhaps he had a run in with the owner of MHZS and this is...

Vocative Audio for Lite Audio DACs?

I have bought equipment from them all - catylink, Coem, diybiz etc. Assuming that the customs agents don't break the tubes, getting something from HK and then sending it back for any reason is a nightmare. I get all my stuff from Pacific Valve and I can tell you that I am very pleased with my...

NAD C542 or the Lite CD 15 player?

I listened through the RCA Jacks and to the balanced outputs. Over-all, more detail on the CD 15. Plus, the CD 15 upsamples - so over all grungy CDs sounded smooth.

NAD C542 or the Lite CD 15 player?

I really, really do not think that these OP AMp'd based CD players are going to compete with a non OP AMP'd upsampling AD 1853 CD player. I really doubt it. It is not in the same league. It is like comparing the NAD Integrated Amplifier to a Marantz 8.

Lite DAC 38 has better Highs & lows then the Larvy10 with cleaner bass??

The DAC 38 is the most tonally neutral of the bunch and therefore sounds more like the Lavry than the tubed buffered DACs. You could not compare the OP AMP'd DACs to the Lavry, so I could see the statement beign relatively true. Given the internal architecture, these two could sound very...

NAD is good, do not get me wrong - but a CD player with an AD 1853 and no OP AMPS for $399.00 C'mon.....

NAD C542 or the Lite CD 15 player?

I have not heard the Great March Modified. I use a Pacific Valve Modded DAC 60. I like the Modded DAC 60 better than the straight CD 15. But, on a desert island with a CD player - if I had to chose a CD player for $399 - It would be the CD 15 - no question.

Red Book CD Player for $100-$300?

Go to Sam's club. Fry's or Costco and find the cheapest DVD/CD/Etc.. player you can lay your hands on. Go to Best Buy and get a Monster or AR coax digital cable. Connect the coax to the digital out of the SAMs/Costco and connect it into a Lite Audio DAC AH. You will blow away all the Azurs...

    Source for under $500 ??

Try one of the VT CD Players from: Bada, MHZS, Jolida --- Some of these are as low as $399. All great chips with great sound - The tube buffers in these things take away the harshness and let the music through.

You can get most of this stuff local now with local support. From Poth Audio, Pacific Valve etc... I have had the CD 15 that I purchsed from Pacific Valve. Received my Cayin HA-1A - initial impressions

I agree. Should a $750 amp have tube noise? Unless..... Its not a $750 amp, its a $300 amp sold in China with a $500 mark up here in the USA. So, I wonder - How does this stack up to Little Dot, Ming Da (which I love with My Grados) and BADA? Its $399 on NY Sound

    Best NOS filterless DAC <$300

At $220, $199 (sometimes on their First Tuesday Sale) it is by far the most cost-effective mod to the DAC AH if you do not own a soldering gun. Plus, they install OPAMPS sockets so upgraded OPs is not a problem. It opens up the high end quite a bit and increases dynamics...

    Best <$350 tube amplifier

If you are like me, I am a Chinese-tube-a-holic. But, ordering from China, dealing with customs charges, reapairs, lost items and the language barrier is all just too much for me. Here is my point, any price you quote for an over-seas chinese piece of equipment add $120.00

Has anyone heard or have thoughts on this headphone amplifier? I want to purchase it as a secondary amp in another room for my Grados. Already have the Ming Da - what an amp, BTW, I put on the score from "Chicago" and I swore the bass drum was right in the room with me and right in front!! I...

    CD Player with Warm Signature

I briefly heard this CD player. It sounded out of this world. When I get some time, I am going to spring for the $599 and purchase it. It is a top loading 12AX7 DAC with a selectable upsampling. At 44.1 kHz, it sounded absolutiely stunning.
