I listened through the RCA Jacks and to the balanced outputs. Over-all, more detail on the CD 15. Plus, the CD 15 upsamples - so over all grungy CDs sounded smooth.

I really, really do not think that these OP AMp'd based CD players are going to compete with a non OP AMP'd upsampling AD 1853 CD player. I really doubt it. It is not in the same league. It is like comparing the NAD Integrated Amplifier to a Marantz 8.

I have not heard the Great March Modified. I use a Pacific Valve Modded DAC 60. I like the Modded DAC 60 better than the straight CD 15. But, on a desert island with a CD player - if I had to chose a CD player for $399 - It would be the CD 15 - no question.

Try one of the VT CD Players from: Bada, MHZS, Jolida --- Some of these are as low as $399. All great chips with great sound - The tube buffers in these things take away the harshness and let the music through.

You can get most of this stuff local now with local support. From Poth Audio, Pacific Valve etc... I have had the CD 15 that I purchsed from Pacific Valve. Excellent CD player for the money and had one of the best transports that I have seen. It sounded unlike any other CD Player that I heard...

I briefly heard this CD player. It sounded out of this world. When I get some time, I am going to spring for the $599 and purchase it. It is a top loading 12AX7 DAC with a selectable upsampling. At 44.1 kHz, it sounded absolutiely stunning.
