    The Pono Player Impressions Thread

I would power off the Pono and then plug it in. You should see a display with a power plug icon that is partly green. It will be fully green when fully charged. See if that makes a difference as it charges faster with more power when off.

    The Pono Player Impressions Thread

The Pono player, is a match made in heaven to the Flare Audio Pro IEM's in balanced mode. You will have to get adapter cables to connect from the mmcx connectors of the Pro's to the dual 3.5mm jacks. In my opinion, the best IEM's on the market at this price range, and in balanced from the Pono...

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

My Special Edition Pono I bought off of Ebay with the Flare Pro's balanced. My Clear Pono from the Kickstarter The leather case has seen its better days, but it protects my player well.

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

The Pono Player was designed by a group that included the late Charles Hansen of Ayre Acoustics. https://www.ayre.com/ A highly regarded and award winning designer of high end audio equipment. So we aren't talking about some fly by night outfit that created the Pono Player. "Founded by Charles...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Here is my 2 cents on the whole tizz tizz that these IEM's supposedly have an issue with. I have the FlarePro's now, and have listened to the Enigma song that many have referred to here. In regular mode on my PONO player, there may have been times with certain songs where portions of the...

    The Pono Player Impressions Thread

Still use my 2 Pono Players exclusively, as they are supurb. The synergy between the PP and Flare Audio IEM's seem to be right on par of what I was looking for. I have the Flare R2S in single mode and it is sublime with the PP. My Flare Pro's are on their way to me, and I'll be using them...

Thanks Barondla, I've reached out to Surf Cable to see if they can help me out.

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Sorry if I take this thread off track, but my R2S have developed a disconnect in the right ear. Is there anyone out there who has successfully found a place that will recable these IEMs, to something a little more reliable? this is the 2nd issue I've had with the cable and connectors giving...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

The human ear, can regulate the pressure on the ear drum with the help of the body, as experienced when you fly, or go up or down in elevation in a mountain. By opening the mouth, and/or swallowing, there is some type of pressure regulation going on. I don't know the particulars of the science...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Good to have people on the boards willing to help others on here. Did you try the Flares on a different setup than what he had?? Totally different hardware and software?

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

I think trying the Flares on a different audio player/setup will help in the diagnosis of this issue for you.

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

I definitely do not hear what your describing. I would try a whole different setup for your playback. What app are you using for the playback? Laptop? Desktop? Mac or Windows? Do you have a friend who has a High resolution audio player you can try? Being in IT, I'm wondering if there is...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Ya, you really didn't clearify the hiss your hearing, in a descriptive way. Just repeating your preferences. In the specific song I'm describing, what part is bothering you about it? Maybe your ears are formed in such a way, that it emphasizes certain frequencies that is bothersome to you...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

When I think of a hiss, I think of the tape hiss, that is a constant background white noise type of sound. is it like a sharp tsss tss sound your hearing? I can hear that in the recording, and its like a reverb sharpening the cymbal sound. definitely part of the production of that song. I...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Question for you, Arysyn. are you using an MP3 of the song from Enigma, or streaming it on an app? I have the FLAC of the album, and listening to it with Flare R2S on a Pono player, and while there is plenty of "synthetic cymbal" hits, I cant say its hissing for me. There is a lot of reverb on...

    Flare Audio – FLARES® – (R2.x successor) KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

Why not order a set, and review them. I believe they have a 30 day return policy. To me, I prefer Headphones and IEM's to be as colorless as possible to the music, and provide it in the manner in which it was mastered and intended. Flare's R2's do that for me, and provide a natural...

    Flare Audio – FLARES® – (R2.x successor) KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

I own the NAD VISO HP 50, Sennheiser Momentum OTE, Grado SR60's and preordered a set of Senn HD6XX from massdrop, that I hope to get the balanced cables for the Pono. If you add the Pro's to your cart on the Flare website, they are $788.65. Guessing some fees are included in the US price.

    Flare Audio – FLARES® – (R2.x successor) KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

I had the same thought as barondla. You had to go and describe the pairing like that! You've doomed me to purchase the Flare Pro's now! :) If Flare was smart, they'd use your description in their marketing for this, as many Pono owners would be all over it! I love my pairing of the R2S and...

YES!! Count me on the "need to know what the Pono sounds like in balanced mode with the Flare Pro's" train!! Thanks HiFlight! I may need your notes on how you accomplished this for the Pono connections before I pull the trigger on the Pros myself!

    Flare Audio – FLARES® – (R2.x successor) KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

I agree with awayeah with my personal experience. Granted, the Flare's are my first foray into IEM's, so it took me a while to figure out what I needed to do to get a good seal, and the easiest way to insert the IEM's. Part of that journey was trying different tips, in hopes of finding easier...

    Flare Audio – FLARES® – (R2.x successor) KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

We expect first impression, and any depth of a review for those purchasing this first wave of the new IEM! Especially those that can provide a comparison to R2's I'll wait for the less expensive versions without the wireless pack.

So only the Pro's as an option currently. Was hoping there would be options without the wireless module.
