Improvements to soundstage over HD650 and X1?
Thanks for the advice. From what I read, T1 v2 has more bass. Are you saying because of this, T1 v1 has a bigger soundstage? Would you recommended v1 over v2 even if you consider other things overall?- sexhero

Improvements to soundstage over HD650 and X1?
Based on your recommendation and what I've read, I think I'll go with AKG K712 which is supposed to have a larger soundstage than K702. Also they can be had for much less than the MSRP. Before I pull the trigger, does anyone have any input on more costly cans such as T1 and HE560? They are much...- sexhero

Improvements to soundstage over HD650 and X1?
Is Massdop K7XX same as K702? Based on its price, it seems like a good buy. I heard HD800 is not forgiving at all and is almost too analytical.. so I'm hesitated.- sexhero

Improvements to soundstage over HD650 and X1?
Hello, I can't say I am an audiophile, but I enjoy listening to music to its fullest. When I am 100% enjoying music, I listen to jazz vocal, classic pop with female vocal and some rock. While I'm doing something else like writing a thread here, I listen to rock and some electronic. I...- sexhero

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
I am considering LCD-2 as my next phone. They are available for a good price used, but probably not the fazor version. Does fazor make a big difference compared to non-fazor Rev. 2?- sexhero

What DAC would you recommend with Soloist? I was actually comparing Soloist SL, Lyr and WA6. Could you tell anything about the difference between those 3?- sexhero

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
I am thinking about getting LCD 2.2. I currently have Centrance Hifi-M8 and have a couple questions: 1. How does M8 pair with LCD 2.2? 2. What other desktop amp and DAC would pair better with LCD 2.2? My budget is ~$1000 for both amp and DAC. Thanks!- sexhero

"Distant" sound = "airy"?
While reading some reviews, I ran into the following paragraph from this link (Headfonia - Old School Trio) and I think it describes very well what "air" is. Hope it helps!- sexhero

"Distant" sound = "airy"?
After reading people's comments and listening to both phones, I definitely agree with above. Although I read alot of reviews that say HD598 has HUGE soundstage, I think HE-400 has at least wider soundstage (I don't know what "deep" soundstage means yet, so this is the best I can describe)...- sexhero

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Definitely big bass in those songs! Unfortunately, Living Dead Girl is where HD598's bass sounds bit loose compared to HE-400 I have. Regardless, the quantity is on par with HE-400, which is alot!- sexhero

"Distant" sound = "airy"?
Wow, thanks everyone for their input. So summing up what's discussed so far: Airy <-> Congested: These terminologies are related to perceived separation, spacing or "air" between instruments. This is governed by upper treble response (9-10 kHz). Interchangeable with imaging and...- sexhero

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I am driving it with Centrance Hifi-M8 (supposed to have 1.4W of max output), which has built in bass booster (which I use at high setting all the time with HD598). I was considering getting a desktop amp. Is there any tube amp that I can buy around ~$300 which will be considered as a...- sexhero

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I've had HD598 for about a month now, and it sounds great so far! Clear mids, smooth highs and engaging sound! The only complaint I have is weak bass and slow response, although the former can be somewhat overcome by EQ. Excellent all rounder, I might even buy one for my wife so that we can...- sexhero

"Distant" sound = "airy"?
I have been looking for new headphones and recently got HD598 and HE-400. HD598 arrived first, and I had about a week to solely listen to it. Then, HE-400 came after I was somewhat used to the sound of HD598. My setup is PC/Android -> Centrance Hifi-M8 -> headphones. The first...- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
I know this thread might be old, but I thought I would write how I felt about HE-400 here. I've had HE-400 for about 3 weeks now, done some burn-in on them and listened to it quite a bit. My setup is PC -> USB -> Hifi-M8 -> HE-400. Before HE-400 arrived, I had been listening to...- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
I ended up ordering HE-400. I am sure it will provide better bass response than DT-880 or HD598 I have. When I do get my HE-400, I will try to do a quick comparison of HE-400 vs. other phones I have.- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
I am inclining towards HE-400, I heard it's on par with HD650 witb great bass response. If the bass quantity is not sufficient, I think I can always use EQ to boost bass. Is it not a good idea to buy headphones with a plan to rely on EQ to get the bass response you like??- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
SRH1540 seems like a nice choice, doesn't seem to have as much dip in sub-bass frequency. But costs twice as much as X1, and I am not sure if it's worth the cost difference? I guess it depends on how much I like sub-bass..- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
Oops I meant to say there is a dip near 400 Hz. On the other hand, Hifiman HE-400 has flat response in 40-200 Hz with a decent size hump near 1000 Hz. So HE-400 would be better for sub-bass response and accentuated female vocal..? Then HE-400 might be a better choice than X1...??- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
Wow, that's a very nice piece of music! I am buying the CD. Thanks for hooking me up! I listened to the track with both TF 10 and DT 880, and I can actually hear that TF 10 handles the sub bass tones much better. I guess the difference between M-100 and X1 will be similar to this...? So...- sexhero

Fidelio X1 vs V-MODA M-100 as basshead can?
Yeah, it looks like X1 doesn't handle sub bass very well. Looking at the FR curve of M-100 , there is a big hump near 400 Hz. I guess it's what they call "recessed mid"...- sexhero
