How is EXACT AUDIO COPY?
I want to rip my CDs and convert them to FLAC files on my Mac Book Pro. I've read that EXACT AUDIO COPY is the way to do it. Is it considered a legitimate software without any suspicious bugs or viruses or suspicious 3rd party affiliation?- Spareribs

Computer audio through HDMI cable?
A lot of times, I listen to audio through HDMI. The signal goes into my TV with HDMI and with a toshlink cable it goes exits the TV and goes into my DAC and finally into an amp. Anyone else ever do this? Am I the only one on the planet that does it this way?- Spareribs

The decline of the laugh track
Back in the old days, when you watched comedy television, there would be a prerecorded laugh track to enhance the jokes. Unfortunately they declined. I like the laugh tracks. It can make the show more eventful and light hearted. If there are no laugh tracks, sometimes the show may look a little...- Spareribs

The decline of the picnic basket
Back in the old days, on a gorgeous day, you would go out to the field and bring your lovely picnic basket. These days, nobody really does it but picnic baskets are still one of the most beautiful things. Ideally, you want to keep it fairly simple. A bottle of wine, some cheese, some crusty...- Spareribs

Opinions can change
As a food snob, I used to disparage popcorn. I used to think that it was a low brow junk food for dumb people. However, after trying some of the gourmet carmel popcorn out there, I was really impressed. I was wrong about pop corn. It can be excellent. I feel that in life, strong opinions can...- Spareribs

The power of food and travel
So there are these popular TV shows where an enthusiastic host will travel somewhere to another land and experience taste. I'm the same way too. The number one reason why travel far is because of the food. I will travel to another country and fly thousands of miles to taste that delicious...- Spareribs

The wedding of Frank Sinatra
So Frank Sinatra married Mia Farrow in 1966 but got divorced in 1968. Some people claim that they still loved each other despite the divorce. The important thing is that their wedding was still worth it because a beautiful friendship blossomed and it was a milestone in their relationship.- Spareribs

The decline of the rubber duck
Back in the old days, it wasn't unusual to have a rubber duck in the bath tub as a part of the interior decor to add a little charm into the family home. These days, I never see a rubber duck in anyone's bathroom even though you can still buy them on line. My theory on why the rubber duck lost...- Spareribs

Looking intelligent
I just watched the movie Being There. It's about a borderline mentally dumb man who dresses proper and has proper manners. As a result, people think he's intelligent and sophisticated. While this movie is an exaggeration, I do believe there is truth to this psychology. For example, I am not...- Spareribs

Eating a whole pizza for lunch
Today, I ate a whole pizza for lunch at this pizza place and wow, it was like a drug! It made me so drowsy and I took a nap. I actually slept really hard. It was like taking a powerful sedative. Food can be like a drug I think. Anyway, here's the pizza I ate. A drug pizza?- Spareribs

Tasting luxury
Macadamia nuts are expensive. Yesterday I bought a small can of macadamia nuts and it was $8! Yes $8 for that small can. But I gotta say, it was excellent. When you eat these, it is like experiencing luxury. Macadamia nuts would be appropriate at a black tie event with champagne. They are that...- Spareribs

Stopping online insults

Having many husbands simultaneously
I remember a few years ago, I watched a documentary of an isolated tribe of natives in South America. In this isolated tribe, it was normal for a woman to have many husbands. Losing a fight is ok
First, I am not condoning violence. Growing up, I did get into a couple fist fights but not many. I lost all of them. The worst was in 9th grade where it was my fault for trying to fight this tough kid. He easily beat me up and my eye got bloodied up and bruised for a week. The following...- Spareribs

Unwanted noise in music
About 2 years ago, I went to see a live performance of Keren Ann who is a singer songwriter. It was a mellow solo acoustic guitar and voice show at a club. Her music was soft, delicate and beautiful. However, downstairs in the same building, there was a big loud wedding reception party going...- Spareribs

Familiar face but strangers
I remember reading an article about the Philadelphia Orchestra members.
